My day so far...

May 14, 2008 12:55

So, just wanted to take a moment to relay the happenings of the past little while to you all so that I don't have to "enjoy" my day alone.  :-)

The day started out normally with me needing to use the toilet the instant my eyes were open, so I did.  When I flushed, the toilet backed up and I had to plunge. (this happens probably four times a week with this toilet.  It will back up with just one square of t.p. in it, too.  I am not joking.)  As I was plunging, the plunger managed to suck up a wad of toilet paper and as the paper squished back out of the plunger, the plunger made some weird sucking noise and doused my legs and t-shirt with disgusting toilet water resulting in my having to shower immediately and clean the bathroom floor.  Grrrr...

Fast forward about three hours...

I am making vegetable soup (and it smells GOOD!) but while I was preparing the broth, I had adventures.  I was opening a can of garlic-herb broth to add to the pot, and when I popped the top open, the broth exploded all over my shirt (not the toilet-water shirt, a different one).  The second can exploded all over my arms.  So, now, I smell like very strong garlic...  this is not necessarily a bad thing, but since I had just gotten out of the shower moments before I did this, I was slightly frustrated.

Second (third?  Do the two cans of garlic broth count as one event or as two?) thing to happen was I was holding my can opener (that I had just used to open the broth) in my hand and my cat, Fizzlewizzit, decided he needed to investigate the can opener.  He hopped up onto his back legs, put one of his front paws on my buttock and the other he used to bat at the opener.  This was great fun for a few seconds, then he tired of the game and wanted to be back on all fours.  Well, his claw had become caught in my pants, and he could not get back to the floor as he was stuck.  In my pants.  He is yowling and scratching my buttock in his efforts to get away, and he somehow managed to pull my pants down in his efforts to get free of my pants.  So, I had to have Mr. Melodrama come and rescue the cat and me as I was standing there covered in garlic broth.

This seems to be a continuation of some of the events of yesterday.  We had cornered Shadow and put his harness on him, then clipped his leash on, took him off his lead line and left the back yard for a walk around the block.  He decided that he wished to go the opposite of the way we normally go, so we were heading down the hill to the corner when we reached the dreaded STORM DRAIN OF DOOM.  The first one he is fine with and will happily ignore it.  The second one which is only a couple of feet away, he is terrified of.  Don't know why, maybe he has read too many Stephen King novels (Pennywise freaked me right the hell out) or something, but he will have nothing to do with this storm drain.  So, while I was attempting to pull the dog around the drain, just like I do every time we go for a walk, Houdini dog somehow managed to slip out of his harness.

I don't think I posted the adventures of two weeks ago in which
grmrefrand I spent five hours out in the back yard trying to catch the damn dog and put him back on his lead line, but we were both having visions of chasing the dog around the neighborhood for the rest of the night in our feeble attempts to catch him.  Fortunately, after the fifth or sixth time he tried to dart into the oncoming traffic, one of our neighbors came to our rescue.  She brought treats and we managed to herd Shadow into her back yard, where, after about a half-hour of trying, we were able to corner him between the house and the gate and I was able to grab his collar.  We got him back on his leash, brought him home, hooked up back up to his lead line, came inside and raided our savings account then went to PetSmart and signed him up for an 8-week long obedience class.  That way if he gets loose again maybe he will come when we call him instead of trying to get away from us and almost getting himself squished on our busy road.

Blah.  And my doctor wonders why my blood pressure is high... In happier news, though, the semester is finally over!!!  Yay!

So, now, back to your regularly scheduled lives.
