I made a donation today for $10 to Catholic Charities USA for disaster relief from Katrina. I dunno it just made me feel good to know that I did something...it might not be a lot but it was something. I only wish I could have done more. I encourage everyone to donate something...it doesn't need to be money...it could be items that we take for granted that these people need right now...Operation Blessing who also works in disaster relief is looking for kits made up of the following items:
1 new wash cloth
1 new hand towel
1 new bar of soap
1 new comb
1 new fingernail clipper
1 new pack of dental floss
1 new toothbrush
1 small travel size tube of toothpaste
1 travel size shampoo
1 small pack of tissues
and
1 small pack of bandaids
they do ask that you include $5 so that they can ship these items to the areas in which they are needed most.
checks for the $5 can be made out to Operation Blessing
all kits can be mailed to:

Most if not all of these items are available at your local dollar store. If you can not afford to put a kit together by yourself maybe you can get together with someone else and do it. The idea is that you did something, and believe me as small as it may seem it is a huge deal once combined with all of the other small acts done by others.
