Magnus was a nosey one of course, and a jealous one too.

Jealous in general. He was just...jealous. Of anything, everything, and especially jealous when it came to people he even sort of knew.

And being slightly infatuated with this girl sprung his jealousy to life faster that a viper could sink it's fangs into a victim.

Yet he waited unpatiently. Very unpatiently. He waited until she threw the things into the trash, and with a satisfied smile took a step towards the door.

Until the man came back, and Magnus spun on his foot to face the situation.

Now, everything went through his mind as fast as thoughts could at this moment. One thought said she could handle herself, she was a detective. One said to just walk away...someone else had his dealings with her. One said hey, go find another cop.

And the one he listened to told him to get the bastard away from her.

As soon as the mans hand had touched her arm, Magnus had his hand on the man's shoulder. Forget being cool and laid back as a vampire should. Forget not bearing your fangs to one you aren't going to surely kill, as he did. A low, over protective growl rose from his throat, and he squeezed the man's shoulder harder.

"If you don't take your hand off of that woman, I will have to drink you absolutely dry."

Loraine was caught completely off guard.

The man looked over his shoulder casually without relaly looking at the man grabbing him.
"She didn't look like she was here with someone so if the little lady doesn't want com-"

"This little lady doesn't want company." Loraine answered quickly though she stared hard at the vampire.

The man scoffed went to say something else but Loraine grabbed his wrist and twisted it down and pushed back.
Swearing casually the man, and his drink found another table with another lonely looking woman.

Silence seemed to grow quickly in the small space between them, though the loud music thundered in Loraine's ears.
She wanted to ask so many question, wanted to reach downa nd draw her gun but this wasn't a darkened alley where they were alone.

There were people litterally everywhere and they both had to be careful.

"Wasn't here with me. I was here with her, though."

Magnus simply nodded, smirked, and headed for the door. He knew the man would think he was hallicinating about seeing vampire fangs. And if he didn't, no worries. He was probably drunk.

And if she didn't follow, she didn't follow. If she did, then maybe he could prove to her bullets didn't work on him. Or maybe she had a question that was unanswered that probably needed a bit of answering.

And he had a couple of questions, too.

As soon as he exited the club, he shook his head of the ringing in his ears from the music blarring, and leaned against a lamp post, waiting for Lor to follow him out.

"This might be quite a night," he said quietly to himself as he cast his eyes up at the sky. It was overcast, of course, and he could almost smell the rain drops coming down.

Rain. Ugh. He might have to leave soon, but he obviously had some business to attend to first.

Loraine seemed struck between staying and leaving but...
Can't stay here.. the creep might come back.

Pathetic rationalization for a want, not a need forced Loraine through the crowd towards the door. She slid her coat on quickly before looking at the doors, making sure it was what Lor wanted.

The cold air sent a shiver down her spine, reminiscent of his cold hand against her cheek. For a moment she looked one way and saw nothing, a sigh of relief escaping her. But as Loraine looked the other way she could see the Vampire casually leaning against a lamp post, eyes cast up at the darkening night sky.

"Why... did you do that? In there?" Loraine's voice was weaker at her first attempt but as more words left her lips the stronger they felt giving a touch of comfort to the young detective.

A cold, prickly feeling ran up his spine. What the hell was that? Must be a returning human feeling he had long forgotten. He shrugged.

He hadn't really expected her to come out, and he hadn't really an idea what was on his mind. He was just...coasting through this situation. It's not like he had much else to do with his life, afterall.

Well. His non-life.

His eyes never cast away from the sky, and he sighed deeply. "Nevermind that. Can't I be a righteous vampire without the girl I tried to help getting on me for it?" Quick answer. Almost too quick. He didn't want her knowing he had gotten green with jealousy, so he closed his eyes and when he opened them, they had a new target.

Once again, he set them upon her confused face. "Nice choice in style. I'd have to say I didn't think a detective would have a hidden profession as a whore."

He wanted to touch her again, just for the fun of it.

But not yet.

"Besides. What kind of...creature...would I be if I had let him handle you like that?" Mocking the human race he was in this sentence, but he wasn't sure if she'd pick up on it, exactly.

The whore comment sent her eyes adrift from his, an ill tempered grin upon Loraine's face.

"Fair enough. I'm not the snappiest dresser... but I think I can take care of myself in a situation like that. I didn't need your righteous vampire tendencies to keep me safe."

Thinking about her words a moment longer Loraine corrected him.
"Nor am I a girl in need of help." She didn't dare touch the last statement, a part of her understanding and agreeing with him about the 'human race'.

"How long have you been following me?" A tad more courageous then their last encounter she pressed him while she was still in moderate control of the situation at hand. Loraine could walk away, but a part of her didn't want to.

His fingers fiddled at the lampost, and he circled around it once, his black trenchcoat following him slowly.

"It's not you. The whole whore thing. Seems very forced and kind of...stupid." Magnus's translation: You're not stupid and I think you're much too pretty to dress like that.

But we don't always say what we mean in the right way. And if she stuck around, she'd soon learn this of Magnus.

"Since you left your place for a night on the town, of course. And I think you need much more help than you think. Maybe..as much as I do." He stopped his spinning, looked at her, winked, and before she could blink, he was standing maybe six inches from her.

No smile, no grin, but a light in his eyes that flickered with desire that even the vampire himself was unaware of.

He closed his eyes so they wouldn't be what kept her close to him. "If you're going to leave, this would be the time to do it. But I'm afraid I have to accompany that offer with a threat." No. He didn't say what the threat was, not quite yet.

He was being careful. He was taking chances with this girl. Just to keep things interesting on his part.

Loraine laughed softly, the smile genuine and strange to her face. It'd been so long since she'd smiled like that.

But as he winked and seemed to 'appear' in front of her the smiled faded. For a moment Loraine saw something, something she hadn't seen the night before but his eye lids shut her from that 'something'.

"If I was going to leave I would have already gone."
The words left her before she could really think, truthful and to the point. She wasn't under any spell, wasn't caught in any hypnotizing gaze.

Loraine wanted to stay this time. Curiosity maybe?
No. Something...

"And I don't often respond to threats."

His eyes opened, and that same passion flared deep within them. "Brilliant."

She was going to stay, hmmm? A small smirk appeared on his face. "Why the choice to stay? Aren't you freaked out that a vampire is hitt-...is speaking to you?" Back to that casual Magnus. He wasn't out to charm her right now. He was out to have a conversation of some type...maybe if he got close to her, close to her in some way, she wouldn't resist giving him those files.

And a couple of others things, but that was for later discussion. "Oh, and just because you don't respond to a threat doesn't mean it wouldn't be carried through or said." He shrugged lightly. one of his favorite things to do. "But I don't have to say it, so we have no such worries."

He backed up maybe an inch and gave her an odd, almost cute, look. "Did I see a real smile a second ago?...A real one?" Magnus faked gasped. "That's almost as wonderous as my jealousy back in the club." Oops.

Crap. Yet another slip up. But he had almost meant to say it.

Loraine chose not to answer him as to why she would stay. For one thing, she didn't understand it herself but she wasn't scared of him. What he was... yes, but he could have killed her a number of times now.

But he hasn't.

Speaking with sarcasm streaking across her face Loraine suppressed the urge to smile as she had before.

"Jealousy? Is that it? Could have sworn that was a human emotion."
Take it easy Lor... don't get cocky.

Taking a step back she let the corner of her lips curve into a smile before turning to walk down the sidewalk a bit, her head lowered as Loraine broke eye contact.

Something about his eyes we're soo attractive and entrancing.

"But why is a Vampire hitt- I mean speaking to me?"

Almost as like she had a chain on him, he followed, step in step, and once he was close enough, his hand drifted calmly to her side, following it's curve slowly before moving back to it's owner.

She had hit a nerve, and a bit of anger flickered in Magnus's eyes. Why wasn't he just forcing the information out of her? It was probably the easier thing to do. But she didn't seem like the kind that would respond to him doing that, plus this was becoming a game to Magnus. A game of 'flirt here, come there, and maybe I'll kiss you later'.

True, Magnus didn't really need a woman, and had no interest in passionless romances...nor any romance at all, really. But even so, the game before all of that was always a fun one to play.

These thoughts toned down his anger and the passion returned. "Indeed. It is a human emotion. I was human once. You have to think of me as dead, for I am. The dead were once humans, the dead once breathed, the death once cared about other living."

"The vampire is speaking to you because he wants something...but hasn't asked because he'd much rather follow you down the sidewalk until they reach another wall and he can press you against it."

Daring. He knew this. But he had slipped back into the vampiric tendandcies of being slick.

A flicker of memory flashed as she remembered the sensation, the encounter from the night before.

About half a block from the club Loraine stopped. She could have sworn his hand had... but Loraine second guessed herself and decided not to mention it. She had enough on her mind as it was.

"The dead once cared but something tells me you still do." Foolish. Don't just speak. THINK!

"Well, not about anything human, but about something."

Taking a deep breath Lor went seeking for his eyes, daring to try and read his reactions.
"Something that stopped you from... finishing what you started in the alley."

Magnus just laughed. She had definitely gotten it all wrong and he shook his head.

"Right. I care about my experiments. I care about finding ways to turn vampires back into humans, I care about letting them walk in the sun, and I care about myself. I kill hundreds of them, hundreds of humans and hundreds of vampires just trying to find the right combination."

True. All true. Just not all the truth he could have given her in his answer.

"And for what happened back in that alley. Honestly, Lor, I don't feel for you in any way a human could. But I want you. And I hated to destroy such beauty. I care about beauty. I think the world needs more of it. Plus I didn't mean for it to happen like that. I didn't mean to almost turn you or kill you or any of that."

He shrugged her words off. "And I will never give you sappy speeches, I will never break down and spill my vampire guts to you, for I have nothing to spill to you. I really...don't care. I just don't. And it's been like that for centuries. If you expected more out of my ancient self, I apologize." He tilted his head, and in a very complusive action, one swift motion, brought her close to him, wrapping his arm around her waist, and kissed her with as much passion as a vampire could bring into a kiss.

Of course, it was more addicting than a human kiss, much more sensuous and romantic. But not human.

"...walk in the sun? But I tho-" Lor was curious and somewhat confused by how quickly he just rambled on about experiments, vampire's to humans and the hundreds of dead for such research that she didn't even realize what was happening until his was about her waist.

At first she merely stared wide-eyed. Confused, bewildered, Loraine was so unsure of what was happening. But her eyes closed as Loraine's hands slid up to his neck.

The detective returned the kiss in a tender manner, rather then sensuous passion. The vampire seemed to have more then enough to go around as his compulsive kiss was being returned.

He slowly deepened the kiss, running his hand up and down her back, slowly, teasingly, his fingers making small circles as he did so. His tongue had flitted inbetween his fangs and slipped into her mouth, but only for a second before he broke the kiss, but didn't let her go quite yet.

"Infatuation." He shivered before he drifted back a few feet, tasting his mouth. He had accidentally cut his own tongue with his fangs, which was a horribly taste, but he didn't exactly let it show...because before his own blood had ruined the other taste in his mouth, he had quite enjoyed it.

But instead of being dazed, he just looked at her, his eyes quite awake and swarming with amusement.

"Remember that kiss for the times when you kiss a human," He coughed, "If you ever do again, and remember that love does not create such passion, such tenderness, which you gave back to me. It's merely want, lust, and desire. Nice lesson, huh?"

He was debating whether just to leave her like that, feeling, wondering, with that thought, or to stick around and ask for what he wanted.

But either way, he wanted to get her full reaction to what had just happened, so he waited, tucking his hands into his pockets.

Eyes closed tight her head lowered slightly as she brushed the black hair from her face.

At a loss for words Loraine opened her eyes to see the amusement in his. It fueled anger that gave her the words she wanted, need to say.

"This is nothing but a game to you. Toying with another life because you no longer have it. A toy, a tool and a means to your ends." Loraine stepped away from him.

"I'll remember that passion, want, lust, desire change and fade. That love can create something that can outlive compulsive emotions."

Her arms wrapped about her chest, pulling the leather jacket about her shoulders closer to her body. Lor watched him carefully for a moment before lowering her gaze to the ground and stepping away.
