Loraine's eyes snapped open and she reached for her gun. Slipping her delicate fingers around the hilt she cursed under her breath.
"I've never-"
Bitch. If she starts a bloody scene here I'll tare thsi place apart-staff and all. Loraine stopped after his voice echoed in her mind, not much unlike Magnus's had when he'd spoken to her. It was strange. The thought wasn't directed to her, like inner monologue.
She's got a gun1?! The waitress voice then entered her mind as she looked on her, but no words left the middle aged womans lips.
"...lets go. Dear." Her voice was cold and empty as she spoke, looking around the room.
All the voices clouded her mind, thoughts filling in until Loraine couldn't hear anything. But she had to get out of there and away from the man. She didn't like the fact her knew her name.
"Wait!" The waitress came forward with a cloth in hand. "You're bleeding." Loraine touched her nose and winced. It was tender and bloody. Wiping it with the cloth she thanked the woman quietly and left the shop, the man tailing behind her.
Her watched her carefully. Damn... see why Dave wanted to turn the bitch.
His eyes leered far longer then he'd intended but Curtus could care less. He's found her and now he'd have exactly what he wanted.
"You see Ms. Coyle, I have a bit of a problem." He stepped closer to Loraine, and she seemed to step away. This brought a grin to his face, a deep sinister grin. "You are a thron in my side."
Quickly, quicker then a human could respond, his hand sliced towards her neck.
Loraine could see the movement, see the motion before it happened. It seemed strange to her as she felt like time was slowing, the man's hand taking an eternity to reach toward her.
Maybe 30 seconds, that was all she had.
Smoothly, cleanly her forarm blocked his attack and before the man before her could respond Loraine sent a swift knee into his groin.
"...stupid bitch..." Curtus swore as he watched Loraine turn her back and run down the ally.
A chase... She wants to start a fucking chase.
"I'm gonna enjoy this kitten. Going to enjoy the look on your vamp's face when he finds your dead defiled body." Running after her, Curtus could smell her.
Loraine swung around the corner hearing his voice behind her. "Stay calm... just stay calm."
Running at full tilt she only stopped when she saw the fire escape, a slender hand slipping around the bottum rung and pulling it down with force.
Quickly lifting her body up Loraine had long forgotten the exhaustion she felt. Long forgotten her need for Magnus. She was alone for now and had to rely on herself.
Reaching down she began to pull the ladder back up before the man rounded the corner. Something about him bothered her. He knew too much... and he knew Dave.
Curtus swore as he came jogginga round the corner to find an empty ally. But the smile returned, his eyes looking up at the ladder slowly ascending.
"Come on! I'm not that stupid Kit-" His hand wrapped around that bottom rung and pulled, ripping the ladder from the detective's grasp.
"Kitten. Play nice. I'm taking you home with me tonight. No if ands of buts." Beginning to climb he kept his eyes steadily on his victum. It'd been so long since he bothered 'playing' with those topside. He didn't like humans. Too feeble, too predictable.
"Fuck you." It made sense now. Perfect sense. "I'm not going with you Mutt nor am I going to play nice." She began to climb as well, quickly, but limited by her human speed.
He'll catch up... he'll catch up... keep climbing Lor... just keep fucking climbing! Remembering why she very much enjoyed Magnus's company, Loraine slipped over the edge of the roof and pulled out her gun.
She looked around and saw stairs that led into the building, running to the door.
It was locked.
"Fuck! Work goddamn it!" Loraine slammed against the door trying to jar it open. It gave a little but only to show two or three chains locking the door shut.
"...come on!" she yelled again, throwing her shoulder into it hard.
Curtus followed, slower because he knew what was up there. What was always up there.
"That wasn't very nice Loraine." He jumped up onto the edge of the building, his Canine fangs showing as the hair around his face seemed to darken. He debated changing fully into his form, but saved it for later.
They'll be more time for that later.
Standing tall he walked forward, each step stalking and strong towards the frail and rather attractive woman slamming into the door.
"If you cooperate kitten, I'll make this easier on you. Turning doesn't have to be painful."
His claws slashed through her skin, tareing at her flesh as Loraine called out. She staggered back into the door but side stepped as his other hand lashed out, claws scratching against metal.
Stumbling back she fired again, but this time at his head. Her first shot missed, her second hitting his shoulder.
Why am I missing?
Loraine backed away without looking. Voices sounded below at the gunshots, people that didn't need to get involved.
Her foot tripped on something and Loraine felt herself falling back. Magnus... I'm tired...
"LORAINE??!" A familiar voice boomed in her ears as she fell over the edge of the four story building.
Her eyes slid shut as she felt her body hit something hard, she rolled and then it all went black. ...I'm soo tired...
Curtus swore and followed her to the edge of the building. There was a small tropp of police officers, all surounding his fallen prey.
Stupid woman... He sneered and growled before letting a deep grumbling howl out into the night.
"Another day Loraine." the men seemed to mount the fire escape, hurring up to find out who had pushed their beloved Detective.
Cowering back from the edge Curtus was in severe pain, his shoulder aching, his stomache still bleeding, his form changing completely as he leaped to the next building and off into the night.

The first thing Lor could think of was Magnus. If she was turned into... what he was she couldn't be with him, couldn't stay with him.
...NO...
Turning around Loraine didn't hesitate as she fired three clean shots off into the man's chest.

Jumping at Loraine claws extended from his hands, slashing at Loraine as blood pooled from his body.
Wounds will heal... I need her. She's too useful to give up on!
