Lor and Dave walked towards the scene. There wasn't much left to do. The body was being tagged and pictures were being taken. Simple enough.
"What is it this time?"Loraine looked around and let Dave do the talking for once. For a moment her eyes glazed over an area and she could have sworn she saw something, but looking again it was gone.

"Same as before Coyle. Like the alley." Cutt from mid-thought Loraine spun around and looked at the body.
"God Dammit!" For the first time, in a long time she showed emotion. Dave looked at her strangely as she turned away frustrated and fuming.
Vampires... but it wasn't him. He wouldn't. Magnus said he hadn't... bitten anyone. That body in the alley wasn't his doing, so maybe this has nothing to do with him! Lor tried to rationalize what she was seeing but she couldn't.
"Calm down Lor. Look we'll catch this guy, don't worry." Loraine knocked Dav'es hand away from her and she stepped away from the crime scene. Dave followed.
"I've never seen you get like this. Maybe you should let me handle-" "Look, the last thing I need is you taking care of this for me. I can handle my problems myself." Dave frowned. "And this is a problem?"
Taking a deep breath and exhaling Loraine didn't know how to defer him any further so she held her tongue. "Come on Lor. I've known you a long time. We've had our rocky patches but just talk to me. I can help you." Hand hand slithered down her arm to Lor's hand, trying to comfort his partner. But Loraine responded coldly.
"We've been over this. I don't need you. I don't need your help, nor do I want it. I made alot of mistakes and sleeping with you was one of them. Fuck off Dave and leave me the hell alone. I can solve this alone, in other words, without you." Pushing past him Loraine moved to go back to the body when Dave's hand encircled her wrist, stopping her.
"Let go-" "Watch it Loraine." His eyes narrowed and locked with hers, threatening and strong. "You've pissed off a lot of people lately and if you do right and just let this slide we'll be fine. But if you keep pressing this damn case you'll get us both killed." Lor was confused and blinked as she freed her hand from Dave. "What are yo-" "I will do whatever it takes to survive in this city. Whatever it takes." Something about his words seemed like an outward threat.
"Are you threatening me?" Dave smiled and leaned in close. "Congratulations. You finally figured something out." His shoulder knocked hers roughly and Loraine spun around.
She watched him walk away, and suddenly he wasn't the carefree guy she'd known befriended and even cared deeply for, for over a year. He was something vile, dangerous and foreign to her.
Dave was corrupt.
Reaching into her coat Lor pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. Lighting it she replaced the pack in her jacket and began to think. Smoking always made it easier to think, even though she was trying to quit.
Who would want these people dead that was in control of lets say a Vampire? Another Vampire. Why would someone want these crimes to go unsolved? Jobs not done. Take attention of another problem. What person would want these people dead?
Coming to a halt Lor leaned back against a tree, several feet away from the situation. Detective Henry was 'sorting' things out.
Why bother getting involved? Because you want to know if Magnus has something to do with this.
Magnus grumbled as he watched the spat. The vampire was much too busy being angry to get jealous. He hung onto the treebranch he was sitting on tightly, resisting the urge to dash down there and intimidate Dave. But no, that would be sort of strange. A man with spikey teeth popping out of nowhere to defend a girl who's attitude had changed over the last few days. Plus, she would have probably bitten his head off for it later.
Yet he shrugged and looked down at Lor. Dave was definitely working for a big bad vampire somewhere else in the town- after all, Magnus didn't run New York, nor did he ever plan to. And he had been locked indoors so long, he really had no idea who was running Central Park anymore. Trinity didn't usually come to Central Park, so he doubted he had much to do with this kill.
He wrinkled his nose as the detective began to smoke. Why would she do that? That was a nasty habit that would need to be broken. But from the way she smoked it, it looked like she had already tried to break the habit.
She happened to have leaned against the tree he was resting in, and he smirked. She did have an uncanny way of stumbling onto him, and it was becoming very amusing. He shook his head, quietly reached into the tree, and tossed the flowers down in front of Loraine. They landed softly on the ground, and even in the dying sun, still dazzled with the vibrant colors Magnus had so nitpickingly chosen.
Loraine swore as something fell from the tree right in front of her, dropping the cigarette onto the ground. Stepping and twisting the smoke lighting from the grass she knelt down to the flowers.
The colours were magnificent and brilliantly bright. She'd never seen any more beautiful. Smiling, she debated looking up into the tree but decided against it as one of the crime scene investigators appraoched.
"We're all finished Detective." Loraine nodded but eyed the man. "Why are you telling me? Detective Henry has been handeling-" "Not to sound rude Coyle. But he's an idiot and you've been on this from the start. I feel more comfortable dealing with you. If thats alright, I'd like to continue." She smiled and nodded as his eyes trailed down to the flowers.
"Nice, they weren't part of the crime scene were they? Surprised if my men missed those." Laughing lightly she shook her head. "No. They're... "She searched for words but couldn't find any other then the truth. "Mine." He smiled and walked off, the body and his team following.
Holding the flowers behind her back Loraine called over to one of the police officers. "I'll be back in a bit." the man nodded and Loraine moved to the other side of the tree.
"What are you doing here?" She asked from where she stood, smelling the flowers. Magnus was in the tree. She knew it, only someone like himself would think of tossing flowers from a tree while Lor was conducting a murder investigation.
"Tossing flowers down to you. What does it look like I'm doing here?" He didn't dare hop out of the tree while the others were still around. It would probably make Lor look bad, but if not that, he would probably be questioned, and he didn't like accusing questions like those nosey people asked.
"And I'd be surprised if his men missed those, too. They would definitely be as sloppy as Henry over there if they did."
His voice was almost a whisper. "Enjoy them. They're fresh, I can tell you that much. And don't you have a job to do or something?" He smirked, even if she couldn't see him doing so, it was apparent in his voice as he spoke. "Why are you talking to a vampire when you have work to do?" He laughed quietly at himself. He was in a playful mood tonight, a good one, for Magnus. Truly good moods didn't come around very often.
"Get back to work, Detective. I'll be dropping you hints all night that I'm around if you decide to stay at work tonight. And there's no way I'm done with that Dave guy. There is something strange going on with him, and I'd rather he not be around you until I know what." Overprotective, of course. But it had more to do with his curiousity than it had to do with protecting Lor.
Lor nodded. He was smiling, she could hear it but her mind was racing.
Just ask. You won't know unless you ask. So Just ask.
"I'm right to think you don't have anything to do with this." The words were whispered as not to gain the attention of anyone else. Talking to yourself isn't the healthiest thing and can get oneself into a fair amount of trouble.
"I... just need to know you didn't have anything to do with this." Lor smirked. "I can do my job better that way. Won't have to worry if I'm finding-" Stop. Think before you say.
Her hand gentle moved over the petals of the flowers each one soft and delicate. "And you heared that about... Henry." Loraine closed her eyes. "I don't think I need to remind you I can take care of myself."
"Lor," He had expected her to think he had something to do with this. Why wouldn't she? She had just met him, so there was not very much trust between them, and he did have fangs and enjoyed sucking blood on occasion.
He hesitated with his answer. He knew she was serious, but he was very tempted to tease her. Though at the last second, he decided a serious question deserved a serious answer this time. "I had absolutely nothing to do with this. For one, I wouldn't leave you and your force to clean up one of my messes. This was done by a younger vampire. Maybe... a century or less. I'm a bit too old to be as sloppy as this vampire was. Plus, I told you. I haven't killed in a long, long time. And I guess you're enjoying your flowers."
He had gotten more comfortable with her and her questions, her statements, her fiestyness. And he had to admit he was quickly warming up to her. She wasn't some little feminine thing that was easily hurt. She was tough. And Magnus could appreciate that in his own manner.
"Nope. I know you can take care of yourself. But see, for my peace of mind, let me watch out for you tonight. Plus, I want to know who's nabbed Dave over there, and who he's working for. Because it's definitely not only the Detetcive agency, I'll tell you that much." He didn't want Dave biting her, nor killing her, because then Magnus would have some serious revenging to do and he was a lazy vampire. "Plus I have some little ideas I want to mess around with and all I have is time."
In its own way, Magnus' concern was comforting. Now so unsure about Dave knowing someone was keeping an eye on her made things a bit easier.
She wouldn't have to do it alone. Well, not entirely.
Deciding not to get too attached at the idea of a personal stalker thought on his words about the killings.
"Good. I'm glad. This has nothing to do with you which makes this easier. And I love the flowers." Laughing sweetly she bit on her lower lip, a habit she was quickly forming around Magnus.
"I should... get back." Turning around to face the tree her eyes were lowered for a moment before Lor looked. She could just see Magnus' face, hidden among the leaves and shot a sarcastic grin at him.
"Don't go too far. It's nice knowing you're looming around."
Moving out from behind the tree Loraine stopped to see Dave standing several paces away, staring at her. "Somehow I don't think A gun will be enough with him." Lor whispered ever so softly before she started walking back.
"Where'd those come from?" Loraine didn't answer Dave's question as she moved past him.
"Anything we should check out? Or are we heading back to the desk." Dave didn't move, still staring at the tree Loraine had been standing by.
"Where did those come from Loraine? I won't ask again." "Stay here if you want. I'll be back. Reporting to the Captain."
Moving to the car she didn't look back at the tree. Dave was already fixated and it bothered her. This is not going to be easy.
"Magnus... please stay close." Loraine was scared as she slipped into the car, Dave following suit.
"There's someone I think you should meet Loraine. He's wanted to meet you for a while now."
Dave started the car and drove off.
Ooc: Hope it's ok. Just want to bring in some fun plot-ness other then random murders here and there. Hope thats ok.
Magnus smiled gently. She was an interesting girl, and he knew why he wanted to keep an eye on her. He didn't trust Dave, and if had come a step closer to the tree Magnus would have killed the first person he had killed in a long, long time, by snapping his neck.
But he followed Lor's example, at this put Magnus at slight ease. Until he could feel Lor's ...fear...?...and could hear her whispering to herself. It was easy for him to pick up, and if a vampire could worry, that's what he was doing now.
Oh, no. This was far too suspicious for Magnus to enjoy as he kept close, which was easy for him, hoping from tree to tree, building top to bulding top, following closely behind the car. He wasn't going to lose this connection this way. Not this way. And the car had already seemed to miss it's location, which should have been her office.
So he decided now, even if he shouldn't have to, to keep much more well hidden. Not only out of human eyes, but vampire's too.
If that bastard touched her...
His jealousy sprang out of nowhere once again, and it made him more determined to keep in persuit of the car. What the hell was he doing? Was he a bloody bodyguard now? Obviously. And you know you don't mind it.
OOC:No, I don't mind, do what you'd like. But a detective and a vampire..how strange.
OOC:strange, but fun! And it's about to get stranger... please forgive my oddities!
Loraine swore as they passed their destination. "This isn't funny Dave. Stop the car." Shaking his head he only sped up.
"Can't do that Loraine. We have somewhere to be." Loraine swore and went to grab the cellphone sitting by Dave.
Before she could react his hand lashed out across her face with such force she hit the other side of the car with a sickening thud against the window. Moderately dazed Lor's face stung as she blinked trying to focus.
"Don't try anything stupid Lor." Blood trickled from her lips as accusing and very angry eyes glared at Dave.
"Where are we going?" She may not have been as strong as him, but Lor was persistant and a little smack wasn't going to keep her down.
"To see a friend of mine." Swerving again, Lor's head was spinning painfully. "He wants to chat about what you've found out. He think's your behavious is a tad bit off lately." "You're not making any goddamn sense Dave... stop the car. There is no way in hell you're getting away with this so just stop the damn car."
As they entered a tunnel Loraine was still staring at her partner when he turned to face her. Her growled slightly and his features changed entirely, wolf like as his canine teeth grew. For a moment she thought he was a vampire, but she'd been with him in the sun, and something was different.
"Shut up." Looking back to the road Dave stopped the car suddenly in the tunnel and got out. Loraine didn't move. "Get out of the car Loraine." She locked the door and grabbed the phone dialing 911 but the glass window shattered and his hand grabbed her hair and pulled her head against the door frame hard.
One thud, she groaned softly and dropped the phone. Two thuds, Loraine grabbed Dave's hand trying to stop him. Three thuds. Her body went limp as Dave opened the door and pulled her out.
Kicking a side maintenance door open he slid inside leaving the abandoned car behind.
"Fuck.." Lycan. He could smell Lycan in the air. It hovered in the air like smoke would around a nicotine addicted person. And after he shook his head slightly, he began to wonder if he had been wrong...but only slightly, about Dave. Suddenly, he was very, very glad he hadn't turned Loraine that night. She would have been dead before that damn Lycan could of hit her like that.
...He hit her? He hit her! What the hell?
And in a couple of minutes, he had hurt her again, again And again, and at this point, Magnus was furious. Handle herself my ass! He snarled quietly. He couldn't let his fear for her life and anger get in his way. Not yet, and as soon as Dave had disappeared through the door, Magnus was on it. He was a strong vampire, he could handle a couple of Lycans. In fact, that's what he had killed last time he had murdered.
But he had had a weapon. He searched his pockets - they were flooded with strange creations, scribbled on paper, trinkets, human food, pictures. But luckily, it was all there for a reason, and deep down in a bottom pocket, he had found a shiny grey colored liquid. Silver. He sighed in relief, dipped his fangs in it, and let the air dry it quickly. Ah, one of his greatest inventions. Back when there were wars between the two races.
And they were going to start again if they hurt her.
He clicked his fang to make sure it had hardened on. Sure enough, the silver had done it's job. If he could dig his fangs into that beast, one of two things would kill him: the draining of his blood, or the silver injected into his system. It wasn't enough to kill him, but it was enough to distract him long enough so Magnus could shove the rest in his mouth.
Without any more hesitation or thought, Magnus followed the beast into the door. "Run, run, as fast as you can...silver's gonna catch ya."
Dave walked down a long flight of stairs, deeper and deeper. He passed several men standing guard, all young lycans like himself, but they were younger. Fresher.
Lor was slung over his shoulder like a rag doll, her black hair falling to one side. Dave had always hoped it would have ended differently, but once she went down here Lor wouldn't be leaving, human at least.
HE would see to that.
Deeper and deeper until he reached a long stretch of hallways all branching off. They were man made, but not constructed by the city. Constructed by the sweat and blood of Lycans.
"..jesus... what..." Loraine was coming to, her head lifting and Dave stopped, rested her back against the cold dank walls made of mudd and concrete. "Had to keep you quiet darling. Couldn't have you kicking and screaming your way down here." Loraine looked around and the swimming sensation left her.
Instantly her leg lifted up hard into Dave's crotch and he let out a half yell, half growl. That was enough of a wake up call.
Loraine got up and took a few dizzied steps before running down the hallway she thought she'd been brought down. Stopping around a corner she caught her breath and felt the back of her head. Blood covered her hand as she swore over and over again.
Loraine moved for her gun but it wasn't there. "Shit... shit... what the HELL is going on?" She whispered so softly to herself as she heared footsteps coming near her.
"That wasn't fair Coyle. If anything I'm keeping you alive. That vampire you're with, his stench was still on you this morning. He'll tear your heart out before you know it Lor. I'm doing this for your own good."
Dave was wincing in pain. He may have been strong but damn did it still hurt. "And you can't hide down here. This is my home. Where we live. There's no where to hide Loraine."
Magnus was swift, elegant, and getting his kick back. As he ran after Lor, and the young Lycans came at him, he panicked slightly...but this was good within a vampire. Lycans sickened him most of the time, smelling of wet dog and blood matted fur. He kicked one's gut before biting the other, and quickly began to drain him of his blood. Ahh, the werewolf was young, he could taste it. And it seemed to be a much needed fresh meal, even if it was partially canine blood.
The one he was biting howled, and lashed out at Magnus- giving him a nice scratch across the face. But Magnus ignored it, as painful as it was, and bit into the other, giving it the last bit of silver that had tipped his fangs, and while it howled, he tipped a bit more silver into his mouth. It would wipe him out- the younger, the easier it was to kill them. Like puppies.
But the process took time, and it resembled a vampire's adventure into the sun- they seemed to burn, and their fur caught fire, leaving them in huge chunks. That had been easy enough, but the howls had alerted a couple of other Lycans. Magnus quickly ran past the hallway they were coming down (speed did come in handy once and awhile), since they were more focused on helping the two babies that obviously couldn't handle an semi-ancient vampire.
But he was lost. He didn't know this territory very well anymore, and the last time he was there, it was much easier to navigate. There had been plenty of remodeling.
"....tear your heart out before you know it Lor." Magnus's head snapped down a hallway, and he followed the voice with determination to find her and Dave.
"Dave, you betraying son of a bitch! I bet you murdered half of those people you two had cases on together! Wanted to look at her that bad, eh? And I think you'd rip her heart out before I did. I don't eat humans." He had to try.
"Nowhere to hide Loraine."
"We'll see about that, Lycan." Magnus hissed, continuing his journey in the direction he believed they were in, stepping down more stairs than he would have enjoyed stepping down.
Suddenly she had become very precious to him, very suddenly.
Dave's sensitive ears picked up Magnus as he was coming. "Shit."
"Something wrong Henry?" She called back. Loraine was terrified, her hands trembling as she clung to the wall but she coudln't just sit there and wait. "Screw something up as per usual?"
"Shut up Lor. You have no idea what kind of trouble you're in." Loraine closed her eyes and tried to concentrate. Which way did we come in?
"So how long have you been... what you are?"
"Four years now and you woudln't believe how many times I've been tempted to turn you into one of us." Dave advanced quickly. With the vampire closing in he needed help, but there was still so far to go. And leading a vampire down... Dave would be killed as a traitor.
"Like hell I'd let you-"
"Why do you think it hasn't happened? You're too stubburn. You'd be the one to screw everything up. And thats what you're doing. Screwing everything up Loraine. Associating with vampires, solving all these little cases. You're getting far too close and we can't have that."
Lor was confused beyond belief but something was bothering Dave, she could hear it in his voice.
"So I take it you were supposed to keep me busy and away from finding something out? And you failed." Waiting around for him to find her was the last thing Lor needed so she pushed off the wall and walked forward.
Dave stopped, his nose up in the air. "Stay still Loraine and this will be far less painful. He just wants to speak with you."
Loraine rounded a corner, two, three, she was quickly getting lost and frustrated. But finally she turned and found herself in the main long hallway, lights hanging form the ceiling. Turning the opposite way she took a few steps until a hand reached out and pulled her back into a smaller branched hallway.
Dave's face was furious as he pushed Lor up against the wall, his hand at her throat, the other holding her hands above her head. "Now do I have to keep you quiet the old fashion way?" He growled at her but Lor stared back with determination.
"Whats that?" He asked, Lor having mumbled something but it was inaudible to Dave. "FUCK YOU!" She yelled in his face.
Magnus had been close, but she had decided to run, and it had thrown him off the path.
In frustration, he shouted, "WOMAN! STAY THE HELL STILL!" And a flare of vampire lust flared in his eyes. Blood lust.
He was going to kill that fucking Lycan if it cost him his undead life.
But it had been by pure luck he had looked up and seen a very pissed Lycan run by, and followed him lightly. He kept his steps quiet so there would be less of a chance of the creature turning around and seeing Magnus. Light, but quick. Very quick. And sure enough, his suspicions were right. It was that Lycan, the one he needed. And he had Lor pressed against the wall. Before he came around the corner, he listened.
"Just wants to talk to you." Pff. that sounded like "Just wants one bite." He knew what they wanted for her tonight, and he wasn't about to let that happen.
Unfortunately, he would probably have to kill her then, and that's one thing he would regret for the rest of his life, which was a very, very long time.
Magnus had come around the corner, positioned himself behind the beast, and waited for the right time. Why did Dave have to be so focused on her?...
...It made him jealous.
"Yep. Fuck you." Magnus had retipped his fangs on the way down the stairs, and at this moment, leaped on Dave's back, biting into his neck as quick as he could. But he couldn't draw any blood before the beast would notice him, he was sure, though he tried.
Dave howled and instinct took over. His hand tightened around Loraine's throat and she called out in pain.
"Get off me or she dies!" Dave yelled at the vampire biting into him, tightening around Lor. It pained him to do so, but Dave meant it earlier when he said he'd do whatever it'd take to survive.
His hand holding Lor's lifted to swipe at the Vampire at his back, her hands falling to her side.
Like a vice grip choking her strongly Lor gripped Dave's wrist and tore at the skin, trying desperately to get him to let go. But her eyes were focussed on Magnus. He was there and for the first time she saw his nature, his vampire tendencies taking full effect.
"I mean it Vampire! I'll snap her damn neck if you don't get the fuck off me!" Tears streamed down Lor's face as the grip only tightened, a whimper barely passing her lips.
Dave could feel the silver burning and swore. If he was lucky he could recover, but not if he was bled to death. Howling out in pain he called more Lycan's to his position still trying to grasp at Magnus' clothes.
Magnus quickly hopped off, backing up a couple of feet, confused about what to do. A look of hatred was shot at the Lycan, and then a look of...of...care?...at Loraine, before he kicked the arm holding Loraine hard enough to break it, even if he was a werewolf. And there had only been enough silver on his fangs to knock out Dave, not kill him.
But again, this took time, and time they did not have. Either way, Dave was going to have to let go...and hopefully before the other Lycans came into view. Considering most of them had been farther down, hiding out in their sanctuary, Magnus figured they had a good 20 seconds. More than enough time to respond to Magnus's kick.
But if push came to shove, the vampire knew he would have to kill Loraine's partner, and he wasn't looking forward to it- his blood wasn't even sweet.
The vampire was covered in blood, head to foot, and most of it was his own. But he was willing to take more gashes for her this night.
Plus, all in all, he was sure later on he would find this whole fight quite amusing.
"Don't make me kill you, Dave." Magnus wasn't weak, nor was his voice, but he could feel the effects of Lycan blood in his system...they would set in later tonight, hopefully when he and Loraine were safe.
Lor and Dave walked towards the scene. There wasn't much left to do. The body was being tagged and pictures were being taken. Simple enough.

There is something strange going on with him, and I'd rather he not be around you until I know what." Overprotective, of course. But it had more to do with his curiousity than it had to do with protecting Lor.

Won't have to worry if I'm finding-"
Stop. Think before you say.
Her hand gentle moved over the petals of the flowers each one soft and delicate.
"And you heared that about... Henry." Loraine closed her eyes.
"I don't think I need to remind you I can take care of myself."

I won't ask again."
"Stay here if you want.

He think's your behavious is a tad bit off lately."
"You're not making any goddamn sense Dave... stop the car.
Kicking a side maintenance door open he slid inside leaving the abandoned car behind.

...He hit her?

Fuck you and your whole species.

Hopefully.
