He had finally retreated back into his own armor. Lopez felt more secure in the cool sanctuary of the brown shell, and it also helped him keep alert, what with the sensory enhancing equipment it harbored

Lopez sniffed, letting the blue touch him in such a familiar manner. He acted like Franklin in a way, he thought. The cyborg frowned slightly and furrowed his brows.
"A couple of years. Perhaps... from these 'memories' it is like I am in some kind of fight, and someone gets hurt. Lots of pain and light, but I don't know anything that goes on too clearly," he muttered.
He paused momentarily. "Couple of years, eh? I think that's... when I was posted here." Nicci frowned, thinking as he handed Lopez the napkin and sat back. "But I was killed, shipped out, and fixed up." He shrugged.
Lopez took the cloth with a nod, but it fluttered from his fingers. A man killed, bleeding, almost - the thought escaped him and he bit his tongue in agitation. He picked the napkin back up.
"Oh, did they make you into a cyborg as well?" Lopez asked, thinking about Simmons out of habit.
Nicholai shook his head slightly. "I'm mostly organic..." He tapped his chest. "But my heart, along with a few other organs and bones are cybernetic. But on the outside, I look completely normal."
It was true, those... scientists, or whatever they were, had taken his mangled dead body and repaired him. They could have done better, but they didn't, which made Nicci question how much they could rely on the Blue Army...
Lopez stared at Nicholai's chest for a moment before snapping out of his daze to stretch his arms out in front of himself.
"Well, I originally thought I was a thorough 22-XP bot, but a few...revalations and a thorough diagnostics test a few hours ago has proven me wrong," Lopez replied, his voice almost worried. "It seems that a majority of me might have been organic, as a large part of my internal organs have been replaced as well as both my arms and one leg. Very.. odd," he murmered.
He nodded slowly, listening. Sounded like this guy was more robotic than he was...
"You vere probably human once then. It just seems cruel to make a half-human machine for no reason. You feel emotions, don't you? You vur crying." Nicholai scooted forward, and put a dark hand on Red's armoured thigh. "You feel this, right?"
"It doesn't seem to go well with my ethics programming. And yes, I feel that. I feel... everything. From here to here," he muttered, tapping his head and his chest.
"And yes, I tend to do that a lot now that I've freed myself from my armor," Lopez sighed, tearing at the napkin Nicci had given him.
Nicholai rubbed Lopez's thigh gently, then took his hand away, starting to put the armour back on. He felt a bit vulnerable without it, even if it was just his hands. The Russian didn't have the confidence the other soldier was emitting, helmet off and all. But the fellow did seem kind, and, well, Nicci sort of wanted to befriend him.
"Vell, it's Corporal Nicholai Krhuzchevni... but you can call me Nicci, dah?"
The Blue smiled slightly inside his helmet, hoping that he had made a friend. He assumed Lopez was of the Red faction, but he tucked that little file away in his mind. Didn't actually want to believe he was fraternizing with the enemy.
Lopez stared at the Corporal for a moment then nodded.
"Ni-... Nicci. Nicholai, Nicci. Okay," he said with his own smile before looking out into the canyon. What a nice day. And he met someone new, to boot. The grass became his unintentional victim as he combed his fingers through it.
"Would you happen to be running a neural CPU, would you?"
