Pre game - For the first time in several weeks I finally got around to going to a game night again. There had been several weeks off because either people were away, our GM was away and there were things going on at home I had to be there for. The daytime routine went as it always did and by late afternoon I had an early supper before leaving for Shim's place. Trip there went well but then we had a long wait before our ride could get there. We left late and a stall on the bridge made us later still. It was almost 8 pm by the time we got started with gaming.
Gaming story - Due to how late we got started the session tonight was short. I had missed last week so when I got back into the story of our 7th Sea heroes we were in a bad situation. Our party had set up camp in an Eisen forest to spend the night. The party was on its way to the secret mountainside cave building that supposedly held the secrets on how to defeat the adversary. We had been on our way here several months before but were kidnapped and put on a slow boat to Cathay. This time the party was going to get there no matter what and this time we started to feel the presence of the Shide. It seems that they and some of the other godlike races were influencing us in ways that we figured would ultimately end the adversary's attack on Theah.
When we join our heroes in the camp they are under siege from these strange jello like creatures with many eyes. They tried to get at our camp and at us but my character had set up a secondary protective circle. When the first one collapsed the creatures then bumped into the second circle that my character was making. When I tried for a "weaponizing" roll I didn't get enough to make the critters bake so we waited until dawn before the sunrise made these dark creatures of the night go away. Once the dawn had come we packed up the camp and left the area to continue into the mountains. For the rest of the journey our travels weren't interrupted by anything that was had to deal with and eventually we made it to a mountainside and had to climb up into the snow.
It took us a while to find out what we were looking for but we came across a large 3 story high stone building that was part way into the mountain. The doors were heavy but they opened easily and our party wet into the building and found statues among several pillars. The plaques below the statues contained clues to a puzzle that we had to solve. Using some dials found in the pillars the group had to solve a combination puzzle in order to open an underground passage. The party went into the passage and found stairs going down, and down and down, a total of one fifth of a mile into the ground. The passage went from masonry to smoothly carved out stone which looked a lot like many of the Syr Neth caverns we have encountered before. We found a small room at the bottom of the stairs and in the center was a table with a shape that appeared differently to each of us. We had to go and find the other shape that fit into it and then something happened.
A bright light flashed through the room and we found ourselves in darkness, floating above the floor. We could not understand why we floated and our vision was not very good because of the darkness. For about an hour we were trying to figure out what was going on, where were we? Elynia figured out how to move around in the room with Zero gravity and we all started to get the hang of it when we found a doorway. It had a locking mechanism on it and I was able to go and open it so that we could go into a long corridor with windows on one side. When our group looked out the windows we got the shock of a lifetime. Hundreds of miles below us was the planet Theah and we were standing on an orbiting space station looking down at our world. It was at that point that the gaming session ended for the night.
Post game - Shim told us that he and his dad would probably be getting some funds to fix their van in the near future. This would make it easier on everyone to take turns driving us home or we could go home ourselves when he drives me. For tonight Shim went home with Lenare and Sairys drove me home. As far as smack scores go Sairys got diced a couple of times but that was it, we were more business minded tonight.
The GM awarded 4 XP for tonight's gaming session.
