Pre game - This was a weird day because my neighbor down the hall was in the hospital having their appendix removed so I was looking after their cats. They were doing okay but its more work to take care of them than I remember, ( mind you the neighbor has 3 cats, triple trouble!) During the afternoon I talked with the manager here and he told me that my downstairs neighbor is going to be moving out. Its not known when this is going to happen but he said it will be fairly soon, I'm concerned because I'm hoping I won't get a troublemaker or a noisy dick. There was nothing more to be said so I got back to the work I was doing and then had an early supper. I took the bus to Shim's place where we waited a while before Sairys came to pick us up. The drive to Chris's place was uneventful and we got there around 7pm, Wes showed up about 15 minutes later. We were missing Lenare for a second week and Alex was too tired to play along so were short two this week.
Gaming storyline - When we last left our heroes they had seen what looked like a chemical agent being transported to Cathay by a Syr Neth teddy bear creature. The shuttle craft it had been flying into Cathay had been hit, then crashed into a mountain top in the southeast of the country. Now as gaming started we were back on a sailing ship following a heading that we were sure was going to take us to where we would find the ship and the brief case that we were sure contained a chemical that would defeat the adversary. When we had arrived back in Cathay we found ourselves in a small port. There we had to establish the direction to travel in so that we would find the crashed ship and the brief case that contained the chemical. (Tao Shen), Chris's character had a special compass that allowed us to point the way to any specific object that we asked it to find. First we had to go back to the capital city of Cathay where we saw that the adversary's child was still contained within the forbidden city by Fu sorcery. Then we met up with Violetta who had repaired and reactivated Citrine. We gave her the things that we had found for her when we had been at Kabora. When we told her about the vision we had seen with the crashed Syr Neth ship she then activated a projector device of some unknown origin and showed us where it was likely to be.
From there the party went further inland and soon found its way to some mountains that started to look like the ones we had seen in last week's dream/vision. So we went where the compass pointed us and soon found our way up one particular mountain where our guide told us they would not enter. The guide told us that this was the mountain where the men who lived below ground were found. As we started looking for any sign of the crashed ship the compass kept pointing inward against the mountainside, we realized that it was somewhere inside the top of the mountain. As we started to look around for caves my character soon disappeared as he fell into one of the openings covered by the snow. After a few flesh wounds were had he was able to soak damage easily before helping the rest of the party down into the cave. Once inside the mountain the group started searching around many caverns and passages as the compass was indicating that we were getting close to the crashed ship. Inside one huge cave that opened out from a passage was a village, its inhabitants were humanoid but they were mutated, looked like they had Syr Neth racial features.
There were some obstacles however, the first was a large river that blocked the path and there was no bridge to be found. We looked around the opening a bit further and found an ice wall at the upper end of the cavern. Garrett cut foot and hand holds into the walls so that we could get across and from there the party continued on its way. Eventually we came to an underground lake, it had a bridge at the far end and beyond it was a guard tower of sorts. We decided to try a diplomatic approach and negotiate permission to enter the villager's cave and were denied permission. The only way we could get into the village or the cave was to bring them goats. We had to leave the mountain and spend a couple of days getting these goats before we returned to the village. There we were admitted once we had "paid" our way in with the goats and spent the night in the chief's hut. The next day the group were given some weird looking clothes that were in fact radiation suits. We eventually found the crashed ship in another cave, it had been there for thousands of years but was in decent condition. The remains of the teddy bear creature were found in the place we had seen it in the vision and then we found the brief case. When we checked inside it to see if the vile of chemical was there we found it, plus a note telling us that we had to come to some islands off the south coast of Cathay to get the syringe with the other chemical, a name was signed to it.
Once again the party set off out of the mountains to travel down to a port city in the south of Cathay to head towards these mysterious islands. Once we had traveled across the sea to the island it took us some time to find a small building in the jungle. When we looked into it the window and saw something very strange, some weird looking dark jello like things that looked like people. When one of the party opened the door the first one attacked Elynia and started to squeeze her like a python. They were people like creatures with no bones or organs, the GM called them "husks". They inflicted a fair amount of damage on Elynia before Tao Shen tried to attack one of them. He didn't even dent it because these creatures didn't take damage from punches of bludgeonings. Then my character came up with something and attacked by biting and clawing with his "jackal ability". This did the trick because the husks died one by one as my character tore them apart. Then the group was set upon by zombies that suddenly appeared out of the jungle to surround us. The fight was brief because they weren't hard to hit and didn't have a lot of resolve/brawn to soak damage. Once the fight ended we went into the small building and found a body inside. It was the remains of the person who had left us the note in the brief case from the crashed ship, damn! Then we found another note on the body the simply read " This one has cheated death one too many times, I have the other vile, come and get it if you want and be so good as to bring the body of the note bearer with you. " it was there that we ended the night's gaming session.
Post game - When we packed everything up for the night we soon realized that there would be no gaming next week. Too many of us are either going to be busy with other plans or going to a local convention. Then while we were on the way home I realized that I would be missing gaming the following week as well because I have other plans for March 8th. Gaming that week has to be moved to the 8th because we will be missing too many players on the Friday again. For me this is going to become a break from Friday gaming for 3 weeks, there will be a couple of Thursday nights that I could go to in the meantime as well as an out of town visitor thats supposed to be coming down around Feb 28th.
* Smack scores, No too many of these tonight as the group wasn't really in the mood for it, the whole evening was rather off on tangents.
