While on the phone to
honest_about_me *squeedancehugs*, which was lovely and brilliant and I miss her so much and can't wait to see her again!, I decided to do a picspam of Ben Browder...
Partially it is to thank
katiuniverse for all that she has done for me regarding BB, Farscape and SG-1, and also because she's sick and feels rotten, so here's hoping that this will help cheer her up a wee bit; it's for
honest_about_me so that she sees one of the reasons my long lost Muse has woken up again; and also for
laura_m2835 who agreed to beta my first Farscape- fic... It's also a picspam for all the rest of my Flist who are interested...
He looks best when shaved because with a beard he looks ridiculous... Seriously... I never thought that a beard could look worse on a person, but with him, it does... So, anyways...
Ben...
He's 6'1... Just on a side note...
He looks good in dark clothes...
He has a wife, Francesca, and two kids... His wife appeared in Farscape a couple of times, usually as an evil person who beat Browder's character up or was behind a beating he took... Best known as Scarren War Minister Akhna...
He can be quite silly... And also has a wicked sense of humour... At the Farscape Con '06 he appeared in the bunny costume him and Wayne Pygram wore in the last Farscape- ep of s4 *snicker*
As a name for baby Sun- Crichton, he suggested Mungo... It was picked up, but someone apparently made a shirt for him and he paraded it around *the name of baby Sun- Crichton needs to be changed, I think...*
The chemistry he has with Farscape and Stargate- co- star Claudia Black is unreal... They blow up the screen when they appear together... I've seldomly seen such a strong chemistry between actors... They bounce off each other perfectly, and are just soooo pretty and hot together... In 2004 they did a panel at the Burbank Farscape Convention... It's hilarious... Absolutely hilarious... More about that later...
People say that Ben and Michael Shanks look alike... Personally, I don't see it, but hey, whatever floats your boat... :D
In 1999, Farscape's S1 aired, and it was a surprise... As far as sci- fic shows go, Farscape is different, special, and brilliant... It required a lot of attention to understand the interweaving plotlines, but one doesn't mind because this is a tv show of the highest imaginable quality... I remember that I was intrigued when seeing the show announced in our German tv magazine, but because it aired at an unfortunate time, I was never allowed to watch it... Plus, even if I had been allowed, my parents wouldn't have approved of it because they are not much for sci- fi...
Anywho, now that I've discovered the brilliance of Farscape, I can honestly say that my telly- series- horizon has been brightened...
For those who don't know, Farscape's intro in s4 is probably the best way to give a short overview... Otherwise I would be sitting here for ages trying to come up with an appropriate summary...
"My name is John Crichton... an astronaut... Three years ago I got shot through a wormhole... I’m in a distant part of the universe aboard this living ship of escaped prisoners… my friends... I’ve made enemies… powerful... dangerous... Now all I want is to find a way home to warn Earth... Look upward... and share the wonders that I’ve seen..."
And let's start off the Farscape- spam with a few caps from Behind the Scenes of the Farscape- mini series, Peacekeeper Wars which was demanded by the fans after the show's cancellation in 2002 so that they could have closure and that the show had the chance to finish the story they had begun...
One thing that I like about Ben is that he's not the kind of person who goes out all styled up, every hair in place... Makes him a bit more human and down to earth... Kinda... Given that I don't know the guy, I'm just drawing random conclusions here...
A very good thing about Farscape is the fact that John Crichton is wearing a lot of leather... Also a very good thing is that Ben looks delicious in leather... More to come later...
HE CAN'T HAVE THAT GUN! THAT'S MY GUN!! *snicker*
Crichton doesn't often has reason to smile... And even this smile here is a bit insane...
Crichton in leather, as mentioned before, is a sight to behold... The first ep he appeared in leather was in 118, A Bug's Life, posing as a Peacekeeper... What spiced the whole mix up, was the fact that Browder spoke with a British accent... Now, I have a thing for men with blue eyes who wear leather well... Men with blue eyes who wear leather well and speak with quite the good accent? Mop me off the floor, I'm drooling so much...
After this episode, Crichton stuck to the leather, never took it off again, and the female audience was very happy, as was Claudia Black... At least that's what she said in the aforementioned panel... :D
BEST SHOT EVER!!!
Random cap of Crichton with his glasses, posted mainly because it just looks soooo cool :D
Highly amusing anecdote that Browder told during the infamous panel... Black mentioned that she didn't have a honeymoon due to the filming of Peacekeeper Wars, and that naturally, I spent all my time kissing Ben on set... My husband was real happy about that... Browder then tells that the first time that he met her future husband he arrived on scene when we were sitting in a boat... [...] And I'm just snogging his wife... The scene he mentions is a sweet and bitter sweet scene at the end of s4 in the last episode, Bad Timing which was to be the last episode of the series EVER, and left the audience with quite the evil cliffhanger...
In this scene, Aeryn and John are sitting in a boat... Now, the thing is, in this scene, Aeryn tells Crichton that she is pregnant with his child, and he proposes to her... I wonder why the future husband of CB thought that this sucked... This really sucked *grins*
WE'RE GONNA HAVE A BABY! YEAH! FRELL YOU! WE'RE GONNA HAVE A BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Giving in to the demands of the fans, Sci- Fi allowed for a mini- series to be filmed in 2003, the conclusion to the series, Peacekeeper Wars, the explosive, emotional, brilliant finale of one of the most influential sci- fi series ever...
Giving birth to their son amidst absolute chaos...
After the destruction of the wormhole- weapon that Crichton, who holds the formula to build wormholes and reign over the stars, initiated to force peace between the warring Scarrans and Peacekeepers...
Crichtons don't cry... For very long... Or very often...
This is your playground...
I wish there was more Farscape *whimper*... Maybe now that Stargate SG- 1 has been cancelled... Wishful thinking, but hey, a girl can dream...
Okay, so here's the deal... I'm a shallow girl... If I watch a series, I need some eye candy, something to drool over... I'm not picky if it's boy or girl, but in a series, there has to be some appeal aside from an interesting plot... For 10 years I boykotted Stargate SG- 1 for two reasons:
- Loved the movie and in my deranged mind back then that was reason enough to hate the series...
- Richard Dean Anderson... Never liked him and won't ever...
So, SG- 1 was this thing that was always on the telly, never went away, and I always resisted... Mainly because there was nothing pretty to look at... Until S9... Damn you, Ben Browder, for looking good... Seriously...
In S9, Lt Col Cameron Mitchell arrived to join SG- 1, only to be told that he was to take command over the team and that the original team, the reason why he had wanted to become part of SGC, had broken up and was done with SG- 1... It took the persistence of a true fanboy, because Mitchell was nothing else in the beginning, to get the band back together...
Hmm... Dress blues... Combine that with Browder's stunning blue eyes... *sigh*
Oh, and look who joined the cast, too??? Claudia Black! Yay! Actually, she had already appeared in S8 and returned with her brilliant character Vala Mal Doran for the first couple of episodes in S9... And the chemistry between them flared again, though in the face of the chemistry that Black had with Michael Shanks, it was a bit toned down, but nonetheless enjoyable, because they just work brilliantly together...
Black stayed on for a couple more episode before she left, only to return at the end of S9... Browder in the mean time did some nice acting, as much as SG- 1 allows, because compared to Farscape it doesn't really demand that much acting, and looked drool- icious in BDUs... I got a thing for men in them, anyways, Enrique for example in 2x18, Gung Ho sends me into spontaneous drool attacks, and Browder just... *trails off into incoherence...*
The Powers that Be has a really nice opening scene with Vala and Mitchell...
Teal'c, Jackson and Mitchell...
I wouldn't be me, if I wasn't shipping my favourite character with someone, and it's not Vala... Because admittedly, Vala belongs to Jackson :D
Slashing Cameron is out, too, because nothing whatsoever even gives the slightest hint towards it... Nope, can't see it... The lucky character I chose is Dr Carolyn Lam, the daughter of General Hank Landry, played by Michael Shanks' wife, Alexa Doig... Heh...
Browder likes to do his own stunts, and for this one he continuously threw himself against a wall... No wonder he looks a bit out of it... And also note that Carolyn is with him *giggle*
Nice view... *drool*
The Band... IN LEATHER!!!
Call me violent, but this photo is kinda cool...
Oh, the BDUs...
In 9x19, Black returned... Vala was stuck in Daniel's body, so one of the first trips she makes is to the locker room to admire Mitchell from behind while he is shaving, grinning and whistling... Michael Shanks' grin at the sight of Browder in a towl with shaving cream on is... Funny to say the least :D
I'm brining sexy back...
Jackson, is everything alright?
Why wouldn't everything be alright if you had that in front of you? :D
Okay, Shanks is very female at times...
In S10, CB joined the cast a series regular... I read somewhere that they authors apparently not to put BB and CB together too much because otherwise they give off too much chemistry... But given that they have plenty of scenes together, I am kinda doubting this statement... Yet, the chemistry can't be denied... It just comes naturally with these two...
Again, Cameron in BDUs... Can't get enough of it...
And once more, in black this time...
In 1015, Bounty, Cameron takes Vala with him to his high school reunion, while SG- 1 is collectively hunted by bounty hunters...
Men in suits, another kink of mine...
