I went to see "Twilight: Eclipse" with my friend Lori on Friday. My expectations for the flick were very low, so I was actually pleasantly surprised. I thought it was the best of the three. I watched "17 Again" on Saturday and must confess to having a wee bit of crush on Zac Efron. Could he be more adorable?
I accomplished very little on Saturday and Sunday, unless you count long baths, reading and playing Brain Age on my son's extra Nintendo DS as accomplishments. (Bonus- My brain age is holding steady at 21!)
What did I read? First up was the newest book by Laurell K. Hamilton - "Bullet." It was OK. This one and her last, "Flirt," where better than the last six or so combined. (Although they didn't have Edward, and I'm a huge Edward fan.) I've found I enjoy her books more now that I'm not buying them, but instead checking them out from the library.
Next up was "Thief of Hearts" by Teresa Medeiros. The hero and heroine were unique and the story line was different enough from the typical romance that I found the book to be delightful. I'll have to find out if Medeiros has another book featuring the hero's brother.
Georgetter Heyer books are rapidly becoming favorites. I finished "Lady of Quality" and "Regency Buck." I've either read "Regency Buck" before or something similar to it, but it was still a great read. Both books were great. The dialogue between the lead characters in "Lady of Quality" was fantastic. Reminded me a bit of the banter between Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell in "His Girl Friday."
My employer gave us Monday as the holiday, and I woke up before 8 a.m. to make sure Jace's camp shirt was dry. It turned into a productive day. I washed the dishes and cleaned out the freezer before making popovers for lunch. I'm really coveting a popover pan. I also need a lighter hand when making them, only 1/3 of the batch truly "popped" over.
I cleaned the upstairs bathroom, sorted out two cupboards, cleaned up my pantry area in the basement, hauled up the recycling and trash bins from the curb and washed them out. I put garlic and chicken into the slow cooker, made banana bread and made chicken cutlets with stuffing for dinner. I washed the dishes again (since all that cooking had created another sinkful. I got halfway through sorting through a pile of newspapers and mail, put in 30 minutes on the exercise bike and played Sudoku on the DS. I'm going to try to get my room cleaned up tonight - hopefully it will be cool enough for me to tolerate being upstairs.
