So I've been listening to The Situation Room on CNN & apparently, Drew Barrymore has been made an ambassador by the World Food Programme for her contribution towards African aid. Part of me thinks it's really nice that a celebrity is using their status for the betterment of the world... but then there's the part of my brain that usually does all the talking which says, "Hey. This person, this celebrity is telling me to donate 18 cents a day to feed one African child & help fund their education. How much money do they have? A lot more than me, & a helluva lot more than 18 cents a day." I know this is unreasonable, as I know she's frequently in the field providing one-on-one care (which is something I'd very much like to do myself & applaud her for doing so). But as with all celebrities, you've got to wonder... if the cameras were gone, would they still be there? Maybe this doesn't apply directly to Barrymore. After all, she's stated that she's been doing this for some years & I'm only now hearing about it. I s'pose that's a good sign, but I still can't help but wonder. Anyway. Kudos to her for at least helping the cause. That's more than I've yet to do (the operative word here being yet).
In far less fascinating news, tomorrow is prom for Jersey Village. Guess what I'll be doing? Not going to prom! Instead, I'm going out to eat with a joo, maybe going to see a movie, & more than likely getting stoned. Which, really, sounds better anyhow.
