Day 25 - A First
My first foray into any kind of online fandom was a site that was, way back when, before Improfanfic, before the Anime on DVD forums, long before LiveJournal became the place to go to for community-type stuff, was Andel Crodo's Daggerfall Fashion Gallery, which later on became TES: The Essential Site. In its original incarnation, its sole purpose was for people to submit a portrait of their Daggerfall avatars in their finest wear. Eventually, it expanded to a "rare photo gallery" in which players were to submit their most amusing screenshots of bugs, an area where we'd "Visit Scenic Tamriel" by adding screenshots of scenery we found particularly beautiful. (It didn't take that much back then.)
The profiles submitted were allowed some amount of backstory, and thus sprang quite possibly my first proper fanfiction: my character profile. My character, whom I dubbed "Nokolulu Nk'ohoh" after a throwaway joke on Friends, I ended up turning into a Diablo export, having hailed from Tristram and a bunch of other details I forgot. Based on the things I did in-game, I wrote her as primarily a bodyguard at the Mages' Guild and you really don't care about any of this so I'll stop now. There was also a round-robin fanfic type deal there, and I think I knew of it before I knew of IFF. Can't say for sure, though.
The site is defunct now and moved from host to host to host, and I haven't been a member of its community in years. The Improfanfic people might remember Robin Strickland ("Yu-Mei"), whom I brought along with me at some point. Some of them are on my flist here, and a couple more on Facebook.
As for "Noki," as my character was addressed, I re-created her in Morrowind, but opted to create a brand new character in Oblivion.
