Y'know, it'd be a lot easier making sure something is regular if some of the entries weren't "oh, this was meant to be done at the END of the day!"
Day 3 goes first, and because it was INTENDED to be posted yesterday, I shall post yesterday's answer.
Day 4 - What You Ate Today
I woke up a little late yesterday for breakfast, considering I had a prior appointment--one of our choirs had a baptism to get to, so I made my mad dash to Geneva without eating anything. I did manage to grab a quick wrap (ham & cheese) at a local on the way over, though, so there was that.
After the baptism, we were supposed to grab a lunch at a local restaurant, but the baby's parents invited us over for lunch instead. We squirmed every way we could out of it (including faking a reservation), but they thoroughly insisted (including begging us to cancel the reservation), so we acquiesced (including miming punching in phone numbers into a phone and pretending to cancel a nonexistent reservation).
As such, I got to explore my first truly swank (and yes, I'd use the word swank) pad in Geneva, which must have consisted of six rooms of which all of them were larger than closets, and given its location and floorspace I could easily see going for over two million in today's Genevan housing market (when your mom browses real estate in her spare time, you get an eye for these things). Plus, the husband and wife apparently love cooking, so we (and all the other guests) were fed salteñas and cold shrimp (with parsley and garlic and red onion vinagrette) for the better part of two hours amongst more singing.
In the evening, I went to a friend's place because there was going to be a dinner party arranged, but in the end it got canceled. I was invited anyway, and we ended up cooking a variation of Penne Siciliana for dinner, and it was delicious (if a bit salty).
Combined with the fact that my boss had his Iftaar dinner on Friday evening and invited me along, and I think this weekend I've been pretty stuffed.
Day 5 - Your Definition of Love
In all the time I've been here and in all the different ways I've loved (dirtier-sounding than it actually is), I'm not sure I can say more than it being the bond you get with another person (or thing--again, it sounds dirtier than it actually is!) that, well, satisfies something deep inside you. The entire POINT behind this post, I know, is that everyone has a different definition of love, but it basically comes down to this one seed being true, and developing a viewpoint from there.
Fraternal/familiar love is an example of one that I'm used to. All these years of my little brother snarking (and being serious) at me and me responding in kind (or prompting him) is fraternal love. The reason I miss Jamie? Fraternal love. The thing that compels me to Skype my parents (well, my mother) on a weekly basis? Familiar love. Hanging around with my friends, like last night, and learning games like Rummikub? Familiar love.
Romantic love is the more difficult one, because the few times where it hasn't hurt thus far is when I converted it into familiar love. I've experienced it, though, and each time there's been adversity, and the one time I really, really tried as much as I could, I disturbed myself pretty badly--not with what I did, but with what it implied I could have done somewhere down the line.
Love of self? I have a little. I have little. Something. I grudgingly acknowledge having some abilities--making computers, writing, things dealing with music--but otherwise am loath to acknowledge things, even to myself. I did when I was young, and by the nature of this meme (in some ways, by owning a LiveJournal and still updating it) I acknowledge that I have narcissistic tendencies inside me, but walking around feeling superior never really won me any friends. Now that I don't come from a default mindset of "I'm better than everybody else," I can finally open myself up to other viewpoints. But don't mistake this for me saying "I hate myself," because there's a difference between that and "I doubt myself." And the lines I DO have are there because they've been reinforced by not having other lines I worry about crossing inside myself.
And there, I think I did a pretty good job of defining those.
