I'm Dancing Like MONKEY!
So, in life you are presented with opportunities. Things that come up and you have to look at it and think, this is a once in a lifetime thing, and drop everything, drop your sanity, ignore what you should do and just do it. If you don't, well "live life to the fullest you are never going to get out alive!"
Last night I was presented with one of those opportunities. On my way home from work, listening to the radio, hear an ad for a Shortbus Long Beach concert that night (in like 2 hours). Shortbus is all the old members from Sublime minus Bradley who died. I totally wanted to go, but I didn't think I could get tickets, didn't have the money, shouldn't go out, you know all the normal sane reasons of the working stiff. When I got home, chatted with Eric about going to a movie, something low key, early get home go to bed early. Mid convo, he asks if he likes Sublime. Apparently, Noodle was in line to get tickets, talked to the manager of Shortbus, got three free tickets and an offer to hang out with the band after hours.
Of course I had to go, I mean I couldn't pass something like that up. Went to the show, Deadset opened (good music, not a tremendous presentation), next came Glimpse. They rocked the house. Nice to see some punk/metal local boys just tearing it up. Have to get a CD for sure. Lastly, Shortbus comes up. I was hoping they would play some old Sublime stuff and they really only played like one or two, most of the harder stuff, and all the stuff from their new album. Music was angry ska/punk/metal. Good stuff but spent more time listening than just getting into the music. REALLY enjoyed the show though, they are great performers.
Afterwards, got a free T-shirt, hung out on the tour bus, shot the shit with the guys. Walked to an after hours which would have been lame if it wasn't for the band there. Just hung out with the guys and BSed about stuff. Most down to earth people I have ever met. Eric Wilson was unbelieveably funny, sarcastic bastard. Damien (the drummer) had his birthday and got totally wasted he was hilarious. Met some other guys don't remember thier names.
Anways, got home at like 5 ish, and went to bed for like 2 hours. Totally exhausted today, but it was so worth it. I had the time of my life, Noodle is the shit, that girl is on my good list for life.
Well, back to staring off into space and praying for sleep, talk later.
