February 20 (Saturday)
After another good night's sleep, Kyle and I started our day by going for an amazing breakfast at Hash House A Go-Go, a restaurant in our hotel. They have these awesome breakfasts. I had a salmon scrambled egg mix with home fries and a biscuit that had the BEST strawberry jam I have ever tasted in my life. Seriously, I would fly back to Vegas right now if it meant I could have some of that jam. MMM. After our meal, we did a bit of souvenir shopping in the stores located in our hotel. And then Kyle did a bit more slot machine gambling, but no luck!
For the afternoon, we hopped on the monorail and went down to MGM Grand, where we stopped by the Lion Habitat. The habitat is a natural enclosure and the guy who owns the lions (he has over 30 in total) only brings two at a time and makes several trips throughout the day so that no two lions are there for more than six hours or something like that. I like that! There was a male and female lion in the habitat when we were there, and they were AWESOME. There's a glass ceiling, so you can look right up and see a big lion lying right on top! The big lion reminded me a lot of Tony, heh, he just lay there, with a look on his face that said " I KNOW I'm gorgeous." Observe:
Heh heh.
After visiting with the lions, we headed to the nearby M&M's World store. This store was my dream come true! One wall was made entirely of tubes that contained single colours of M&M's so you could grab a baggie and just fill it with your favourite colour. There were four floors, one floor was entirely M&M's Christmas stuff! (Mom would have liked it, for sure). I bought a case full of different colour M&Ms. We also bought Luna some fuzzy M&M toys. Heh. After M&M's World, we visited the Coke store next door, which was also cool (Kyle and I enjoyed a nice cold Coke in an authentic glass bottle). Then, we headed back outside to visit the New York, New York hotel. It had a very cool replica of the Coney Island amusement park inside. Lots of carnival games (without the carnies there to bug you!) and of course, the roller coaster. I was too chicken to ride it. But it sure was fun to watch! We then headed down to Luxor to get some pictures from the outside. Then, after resting for a bit, we went back to Caesar's Palace to meet up with Kathy, Andrew and Nicole. We shopped in the Forum Shops for a while. I got another Fat Tuesday drink (of course!) and we watched a brief show at one of the fountains where they recreate a greek legend (statues in the fountain come to life, it's kind of cool!) Then we bid adieu to everyone and headed back to the hotel to freshen up. We got on the monorail and went BACK to MGM Grand to dine in the Rainforest Cafe. It was busy but so cool, there were replicas of jungle animals moving on the walls and ceiling! (Mom would not have liked the robotic snake). Kyle and I sat right next to this gigantic aquarium and this one fish kept staring at me. It was funny (if slightly creepy). My pizza was delicious, and Kyle's seafood looked pretty good too. Then, we hopped onto the Deuce bus, a double decker bus that goes down the strip and takes you into downtown. It was not the greatest of experiences; the bus driver was grouchy and the strip was beyond crazy. It took us a really long time to get downtown (we even had to switch buses midway when some random guy got into a kerfuffle with the bus driver. Sigh). But, we made it there by around 9. We had come downtown to watch the Fremont Street Experience. Fremont Street is a historical stretch of downtown Vegas that was the original hot spot before the Strip was built up. It is now enclosed under a dome that stretches down the street for blocks. There are huge video screens on this dome, and every night on the hour, there are short shows that play on these screens. The one that we saw was a video to the song American Pie by Don MacLean. It was so awesome! Here's a short video:

The next show was a Tribute to Queen, but we decided to leave, as we had to get up super-early the next day for our trip to the Grand Canyon. So we got back on the Deuce bus and had a faster trip this time, back to the Strip. We got off near the Stratosphere Hotel and walked through Sahara to get back on the monorail. Another great day!
Part Three: Grand Canyon coming tomorrow!
