Campbell Bain's Headspace [Show #1]

Jun 08, 2011 19:42

[Broadcasting! Live feed! Or...however City Radio works. It's on your devices, anyway! ARE YOU PREPARED?]

Campbell: [radio voice] Heeeellloooo City! I've already said hello t' you, and t' so many Citizens here, but today is a special day. Today, this is Campbell Bain, comin' t' ye live fae the airwaves, or the netwaves, or whatever y' want t' call them, but I'm makin' waves. I'm on City Radio and this is Campbell Bain's Headspace. It was nearly gonna be Campbell Bain's Soundtrack t' the Apocalypse but that's sooo last week, doncha think? This show's a fixture now, ye'd better believe it, I'll be here, playin' music and regaling you wi' the sound of my voice every Wednesday and Sunday evening. Now, I hope you're all listening, cos I've got a question for all of you. Do. You like good music?

Campbell: I hope you were all thinkin' about your answer to that question. Cos if y' like what's goin' on, it means other folk might too. And at the very least, someone's listening. So there'll be a form up on the Radio website shortly, that's cityradio.co.ct, that'll let some a' you moguls, some a' you entrepreneurs, some a' you business savvy Citizens send in your dosh and an advert for me t' say, live on air, for all to here. That's right, me, advertising your business. Think about it.

Campbell: At this point, y' might be thinkin' [here, he puts on an American accent] "This guy's awesome!" [radio voice] Or more likely, you've got some reason why I should shut up. Well, I'd like t' hear those reasons, which is just how I've got a mailbag for, at campbellbain@cityradio.co.ct. Or, even better, why I'll be opening up the lines and answering your questions, and listening t' your comments right after this song, a song I'm gonna dedicate t' my good friend Eddie McKenna. I wouldnae be doin' this wi'out you Eddie. [amused] Y' can all feel free t' blame him for that.

[Lines Open]

Campbell: I willnae be doin' it this show, but next show, I'll be takin' any musical requests y' might have. For now, I'd like them t' be fae before 1989, but I might change my mind. I'm very changeable. Y' can request specific songs, or something by an artist, or y' can ask for something really vague and I'll interpret it how I feel like. I'll run an example through for y' now. Request fae the mailbag. [rustling paper] It's actually proper mail today cos I just wrote it t' myself. This one's from some loony called Campbell Bain. He writes "I want a song that'll teach the weans something. A song about spelling, if y' don't mind." Well, Campbell, it so happens I have just the song for you.

Campbell: There y' go. Easy as that! A' course, I reserve the right on whether t' play your request or no. And I can tell some people are already out there, plannin' t' send me as many shite songs as possible. To which I have t' say, Nathan, you do that, I'm gonna start dedicatin' really awful songs t' you. Ones you wouldnae even request as a joke. It might no deter you, but at least I'll have fun.

Campbell: I can tell you lot all something: if y' listened t' everything your mum and dad told you, you'd never get anywhere fun. I'm in a magical City right now, and I'm a DJ, and I'm in a rock band and I don't intend t' ever start thinkin' realistically about my life. No when I'm havin' this much fun bein' a loony!

Campbell: Oh and about being a loony. I like t' get this part out of the way straight off in my shows. That's no a figure of speech if you havenae worked it out by now. I'm officially manic. Go on, have a go in the mailbag if y' like. [He is actually completely unsarcastic and genuine here. Cheerful, even.] I like seein' what new stuff folk come up with. Ask questions if y' like. I can be really helpful, sometimes.

Campbell: I'm tryin' t' do a bit of a mix here, y' might be able t' tell. Wee bit of a mix. This is all fairly mainstream, I know. But at least it might be givin' you all an idea of what I play, and what I'm likely t' play. But y' never know. Y' might win me over wi' your classic Turkish folktune. Only way t' know is t' try.

Campbell: Thought I'd just juxtapose that for you there, t' really drive home my point. Anyway, I'm coming t' the end a' my show. I hope y' got something out of it, cos I definitely did. Before I play us out, I wanna take the time t' thank Dawn Summers, CEO of City Solutions. You made this happen, Dawn. I think that makes you an honorary loony. This has been Campbell Bain and you'll be hearing me again on Sunday, and then Wednesday, and every Sunday and Wednesday from then on.

[ooc: First three people to the Lines Open thread are the three Campbell talks to on air! Anyone who wants to talk to him after in this thread, everything below is the 'message board on the Radio Site'. Talk to each other, talk to him, be....absolutely quiet and say nothing, whatever. XD Also, the Radio Comm is...barebones right now but that's just because of how lazy I am. And I knew if I waited for me to do that, I'd never have the show. So. Show. Also, if you want to start ANY kind of radio show with your character, PLEASE DO. Amy's having one. This should be a thing, I swear.]

campbell really likes the city, woooooooooooo, proud to be a loony, mentor: eddie mckenna, audio, never shuts up, bipolar if he hasn't told you already, campbell is a dj, has difficulty taking things seriously, campbell bain's headspace, campbell likes to do accents
