You might try a can of compressed air, of the variety normally used for cleaning computer keyboards or similar.

For the cat, I doubt you'd have much luck threatening thieves with that particular strategy.

Perhaps if they were very lightweight thieves. [Is he kidding--yes.] Radio Shack? Or whatever equivalent exists here; I'd presume - possibly a terrible idea on my part - a purveyor of similar wares to be floating around somewhere. It's not as though we're in a city of Luddites.
