Oh wow - I was just telling Sestra Prior I needed to do tons of research on Russia for the sequel to Avoidance (if I have Alex seeking Yassen out in Estrov) and how intimidating that is.

This so perfectly fits in with what I envision for the sequel...

It was a bit frustrating, almost all search results come back with Soviet era stuff. I'll send some links your way:

I used the guy on the farthest right in this photo, who has a similar uniform to a naval infantry officer from the Soviet era (which i found at another page), so that might be close to what his rank is. (Found here, with more uniforms. I couldn't make out what the insignia on his hat is, but the others are all wearing stars, so....

New field army uniforms.

"Fashion show" for new military uniforms.

This was the best site i found for Soviet era uniforms (because they list rank with the uniform and whether it's dress or field).
