I had a total crush on him when I was a comics fan, a good 10 years ago... but after the awful movies and that fact that Nolanverse is my Batsy of choice... no, no no.
I just consider him unnecessary. =/

I kinda considered him that way too. ......or at least i tried to. I'm folding now i think. I guess you could say that it would be hard to see him in TDK. In would be hard to see him in reality at all. .......still. I suppose i could only avoid liking him for so long. Eventually it just had to hit me. v.v

There's so many interesting things about Batman's Robins though!
His attempts to steer them through tragedy, the way they react to and against his Mission and tactics, the way each of them has to work with Batman and try to live their own lives too... it brings out some pretty interesting sides of Bruce.

You cannot deny them for long... the obsessions rise to the surface whether you fight them or not. May as well let them come.

I don't know whether Nolanverse has just brainwashed me as far as the concept of Batman is concerned, but I just don't think Bruce would allow anyone else to follow in his footsteps, he wouldn't want that life for anybody else. The lovable emo dipshit that he is.

But Robin is just too much of a decent character with actual potential, so he refuses to just goddamn DIE.

I can't see Robin following in his footsteps to become Batman, at least not at first, or i can't see that as the reason Bruce would recruit Robin. It's more like.....Bruce's ultimate selfishness. To have Robin with him, someone who's the opposite of him, happy, young, (pretty), innocent but unruly at the same time, who can just aaaaaaalmost match him, and have that person at his side in the darkest most secret aspect of his life. That is totally taking something he shouldn't have.

Oh, touché, madam.
I can see exactly what you mean, and feel a little silly for not thinking of the darker motives myself. This is so why I don't RP lol.

I almost wish there could be a Nolanverse Robin, just to see them try and take those ideas and make them flesh. But they'd probably just cock it up and make it all die a horrible faily death, so we'll leave it to idle fanboy speculation.

XD Well.....that isn't so much rp as much as my own bit of crazy showing. But yes. I think this is kind of exactly WHY Robin is -always- made of so much camp, you CAN'T do dark with his character (and still keep his and Bruce's stories the same) without implying that's it's going somewhere THAT dark, just because of the facts of their situation. So obviously, no one goes there with it. Nolanverse -could- do it, but i think the implications would be called out right away.
