TBH, the more I write Arzt, the more I feel sorry for Karofsky. Like, "Dude, that's your father? I'm sorry. He's awful." And the thing is, I'm basically writing Canon Arzt. I really haven't changed that much.

Also, I imagine Wes knows a lot more about what's going than people would suspect. He did kind of grow up in Paik Heavy Industries, same as Sun did, and although I'm certain there's a lot less merciless beatings being doled out in the United States, it's still that sort of organization. And I think Wes is very aware of what kind of person Mr. Paik is, and what that might have meant for his daughter, and what that might mean for all of them now.

As far as the Charles/Ethan/Penny thing goes -- basically, it's mostly unchanged from what happened in canon. Sooner or later, someone was going to find out that Charles had a daughter off the Island, and banish him. Ben didn't do it, so it wound up falling to Ethan (once he'd finished his own off-Island studies and come back as a doctor). So Arzt, Juliet, Sun, Michael, and Sayid have all been working for Ethan the entire time.
