My roommates really pissed me off tonight. We were watching the Kiera Knightly version of "Pride and Prejudice" and they asked me on a scale of 5 what I would rate it. I said 2.5 and they practically ripped my head off. I was familiar with the plot and found the long gaps in action beautiful but boring and unnecessary. They dissagreed, and while I was trying to defend my position Tammy asked me what I thought the point of the movie was. I gave the English-major-esk opinion that it was about attitudes and prejudices about people and how judgments and attitudes toward others can evolve in many different forms. They both looked at me puzzled and Tammy said "is that really what you think?!?" I thought it was a joke and said, "of course, what else is it about? I mean, it's in the title." Tammy and AshaLee replied "LOVE," and proceeded to explain to me how I completely missed the point and had to be utterly heartless for not finding pleasure in watching a two hour long movie that is "simply" about falling in love. I wanted to shout and tell them how completely idiotic and uneducated they sounded, but instead took a wicked and undeserved tongue lashing. Not cool. Happy Birthday to Me.
