Every third Russian thinks that the sun revolves around the earth, and not vice versa

All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) decided to conduct a study on the most common scientific fallacies of our citizens. Published on the organization's website results, indeed, thought-provoking.

  Experts interviewed polls 29 to January 30, 2011 1,600 people in 138 villages in 46 regions and republics of the country.
  It turned out that every third Russian thinks that the sun revolves around the earth, and not vice versa. In recent years, these respondents was a few percent more. Other errors read as follows: radioactivity - the handiwork of men (55%), antibiotics kill viruses as well as bacteria (46%) people lived in the era of the dinosaurs (29%).
  One in five respondents believe that a complete revolution around the sun, our planet makes for one month and the child's sex is determined only maternal genes. Approval of the "electrons of the atoms is less than" and "people today have evolved from earlier species of man" named wrong 18% and 17% of respondents. According to the polls, women are often voiced by the scientific errors than men.
