Sharpe's September Challenge '13 - Film: Eagle
"Whether you watched a movie, read a book or even a fic, choose ONE pic from / for it, post the pic and talk about why you chose that particular one!"
No, I won't pick the obvious one, I'm going for a more thoughtful one:
For me, this pic, one of the last shots of the film, sums the episode up better. Yes, Sharpe does get his Eagle, but there are conditions attached... one of which is seen in the pic, where Sharpe has rammed the staff of the Eagle deep into Major Lennox' grave, so he can feel it. There were more losses, Ensign Denny for one, and at the same time both Sharpe and Wellie know that it's unlikely Sharpe can hang onto the promotion (the reasons for that are explained better in the book).
It also gives the feel of honour and keeping his word, but on the other hand it is Sharpe's ambition to be Captain of the Light Company... but it is all more complicated, of course, so go and watch!
