Sharpe's Sword
1812 - The Battle of Salamanca

Richard Sharpe captures a French spy and is then wounded while trying to keep him in British custody.

Questions:
Harper continues to search for Sharpe when he is believed dead. What do you think of this devotion to Sharpe?
What do you think of Sharpe's actions with regard to honour in this book? Examples: allowing Spears' reputation to remain intact, his (in)discretion with La Marquesa.
Sharpe chooses to keep the sword Harper forged for him rather than Leroux' sword. Discuss.

Sharpe's Skirmish

While Sharpe is recovering from the wound he received in Sword, he ends up guarding a Spanish fort and a load of muskets against a French raid.

Question:
The French think that the fort will be unguarded. Is Sharpe's victory here testament to the skills and knowledge he's picked up along the way, or do you think it's the unit that's formed around him that's more responsible?

Feel free to say anything you like - the questions are only a guide in case you get stuck. Please keep movie talk to the movie post as much as possible, though you're welcome to make comparisons if it benefits your point.
