Once again, I've been stressing over the future. The future. The future. The future. It's all I think about. Where do I want to be in a year? Two years? Five? TEN? AAAAAAH.
Option 1:
Teach for America. I'd real-deal, full-time, regular teacher in a "less-fortunate" school district for two whole years. This sounds pretty awesome, especially considering how much I've always wanted to teach. The idea of being a middle/high school math or science teacher tickles me right where I itch. Know what I mean? Pros: decent salary, good experience, helping others, good on resume. Cons: they place you there for a reason (i.e., no other teachers want to teach there permanently).
Option 2:
Peace Corps. I'd go to a foreign land for two years and utilize my expertise is some field of their choice to help local populations deal with life. There is a pretty broad range of activities I'd be involved with. That is, I could be helping to building a bridge one day, setting up sustainable agriculture systems the next, and then whatever else on any other day. The idea of going to a foreign land for two months is scary, but the prospects are INVIGORATING. Pros: completely new environment, endless cultural enrichment, diverse experiences. Cons: no salary, inevitable culture shock.
Option 3:
Get a job (in California). I like my job. I like the idea of serving a purpose in society and using my college education in the process. Pros: good salary, my adult life would be starting fresh in a new place. Cons: being an adult sucks, I'm sure.
Option 4: Grad school Grad school would not be an immediate option. I need to get out of debt a little bit first, and I need to live life as something other than a student for once. I will definitely go for a higher degree at some point though.
