Hey, all you music-types (and everyone else)!
So this morning, dorian_mauve and I were awoken by tweets from one of the bands we love, Portugal. The Man ( @portugaltheman), announcing that ALL OF THEIR STUFF. ALL OF IT. EVERYTHING. EVERY. FUCKING. THING. had been stolen, including their van and trailer, after they played Lollapalooza last night. They've spent pretty much all day freaking out all over Twitter and it's pretty nauseating what was taken.
The full list of lost equipment can be viewed here, complete with a bunch of serial numbers.

So any of you with Twitter accounts? If you'd like to retweet the above tweets, as well as anything else relating to the event you'd like, just to raise awareness and spread the word? That would be AMAZING.
I am offering stupidcomic doodles to anyone who wants to get in on this, even just an RT or two.
For those of you feeling remarkably ambitious, dorian_mauve has compiled an open google doc dividing and cataloging efforts to call local area pawn/music shops to provide the establishments with info (we're hoping most have email addresses we can forward the list of serial #'s to). Even if you don't wanna deal with this, maybe you know someone who does, or someone on your Twitter feed will.
If you're super-awkward with phone stuff like I am, we recommend that if you do claim a pawn shop cluster, just use the, "My friend's band had all of their stuff stolen after they played Lolla on Sunday night, do you have an email address we could forward the serial numbers/descriptions to?" script.
OH AND we're also canvassing Craigslist (Chicago and the surrounding areas including Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan as well as the Chicago 'burbs like Evanston and Glenview etc) and eBay for the items, which is another quick way you could take a minute to help, if you're so inclined.

Their accounts are huge, they can handle the spam and maybe that way some of the bigger ones'll see it. Plus, if you think of anyone else who might give a crap. I've just been focusing mostly on local musicians for the Chicago area so far, with the exception of the Mountain Goats, but the more publicity the better.
