I really like Aim And Ignite. I listened to it a few times last night, and like, yeah- it's really good and ridiculously charming and sweet and everything I want right now, basically. It's having a hard time swinging against all my forever-band heavy hitters (cannot stop listening to Black Parade. CANNOT.), but every time I listen to C'mon, I melt a little and have to go alternate it with Stay Calm until I get all happy and squirmy again.
Tie The Rope and First Single I really like. I'm on my second listen and... yeah. Just yeah. His voice has changed a lot, just sort of... tonally. Like, between this and AAI he's gained a little more indie twang. It's cute. Seems to suit him.
GUH. OKAY YES. I AM EXCITED. I'll listen to it when I get up later. Less terrified, more stoked, even if only to see someone else get as insane about music they like as I get about music I like.
I like the twang! But then, I tend to like twang. Not in the "mah truk is brok an mah dawg ran off an mah wahf shacked up wif thuh milkman" sense, but like. Idk. I love Bright Eyes and Bob Dylan and the Decemberists. Case and point.
C'mon makes me twirl in my socks on the bathroom floor. ♥
HA HAH YEAH I've done more for less. I get that. (And I made Diana send me a postcard from Omaha when she drove through just because that's where Conor's from. So.)
The drums, first of all, are perfect. I mean, in that they're super simple but super tight, and apparently mic'd perfectly or something, because just damn, really. And then that little swing he does through "leave me there/gasping for air". Nnh! ♥ ♥ ♥
Like, I notice he does that little swing-through-lyrics inflecty thing a bunch, in C'mon, too, just usually to a lesser degree. Again, what I said where I said it in our 4857573 threads we have going right now, like. His voice is so assertive and kicky and has all these little quirks and trends and it's so fucking ENDEARING!
It's melodramatic without being gross, which is one of the things I love most about Folie A Deux, too. I mean, I love me some gratuitous emo, but I also love the music vs lyrics contrast effect.
He's doing this thing, like, his singing is so conversational. Hang The Rope, especially. I feel like he's having a bored, annoyed conversation. It's all very *matter of fact*.
