so lately i have been researching what companies use child labor, slave labor, or use unsafe working environments and today i decided to look up Hot Topic. I have found a couple of things, first of all when searching for who owns Hot Topic you get a bunch of blogs that have a ton of people calling the place a "Poser Store" (understandably so) but no one seemed to know exactly anything specific about who manufactures all the 'gothic' clothing or who owns it. The two main stores that people think own it are Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, or Disney. Now gap a couple of years ago got into alot of trouble for child labor and have since cleaned up their act... kind of. And as for Abercrombie & Fitch there have been far to many law suits about racism for me to want to shop there (besides the rediculously high prices). Disney has also violated child labor laws. But what i found out is that a man named Orv Madden owned the alternative store until 2001 (I have yet to find out who bought him out or what happened). Okay, so you want the funny bit? Hot Topic owns a company named Torrid, here is some info on Torrid.

Torrid is a chain store owned by Hot Topic. They strive to provide fashionable clothes for 'overweight' teenagers, wearing sizes from 15 to 29. A plethora of the clothing sold may be considered "hard to find," as they claim that much of their clothing is not mass-produced.

I thought that would be funny for all the KF, GC, Hawt topic hating people.
