Christ I can't believe I filled in that 'music' thing above. And I'm updating only two days later? *sigh* Might as well neuter me now...
Rocket... Jockey?
So I've been scouting resources for my Rocket Jockey remake. I found a guy who's going to make a 3d model of a rocket and grappling hook, the main components. I've also approached an artist about making two logos and maybe a splash screen for me, if he has free time and is really bored. Also, someone to punk crayons to the artist's work, if they choose to do so. And lest we forget, music. Which, since talking to the Music Man, I've had another thought... I've thought how faithful I want to be to the style of the original, and I'm nearing "not very."
The original was guys dressed out of the '40s (usually pants, leather jackets,) with old aviator style leather-helmets/goggles on. They rode jet engines that looked like they were from the Phantom Menace's pod racers, (though this was a decade ago,) only, they just had a saddle on an engine. And the music was an original soundtrack by surf rocker Dick Dale. I don't know how, but it worked.
What I want is a more cartoonish style of art, so I went after a guy who does a cartoonish style. We'll see how that goes. I may even want to make the game cel-shaded. I don't know how to do that, but this is supposed to be fun, and learning new things IS fun, so, I may go with that. I'm also now thinking of making it more punk themed so far as content. Make the Jockeys from the original more punk than pilot. I mean really, who else aside form the most hardcore punks (and Ren & Stimpy,) would strap a seat on a rocket with no steering? And the music I mentioned earlier? I was initially looking at some original music so there would be no questions about my being able to distribute them. But hell, if I can find models and art this easily in a game project that will likely take months, maybe I could ask around and see what band doesn't mind giving a track away for free. Or have the Music Man ask...
Volt Man
Also, it seems I'm editing a comic for a friend of mine. As this has become a work blog, I'm listing it here. I should be done with a thorough read by Sunday also, just to keep pace. Though the artist has already started, so I should hurry up with that. My hand in the comic is yet to be determined by me. At the very least I'd edit for grammatical reasons and clarity, probably dialog-content too. I like an editor to be mostly "hands off" when it comes to the content of the artist and writer, let's hope I can old up to my convictions.
