I've been promising this post for what seems forever ... and ... I've no idea why it's taken so long ... but here it is ... the Crispy Cheesy Thing ...
No, never to vegan, not that I won't eat it. But to vegetarians that are against eggs, they should be against dairy for the exact same reason. Picking up some eggs that are just sitting around and drinking milk from some cow destined for McDonald's is equivalent IMHO. I present this as an argument sometimes ... and get the reaction of a blank expression.
Personally I am not against eggs, I just don't eat them because it is a requirement for proper vegetarianism ... no meat, no fish, no eggs. It's a bitch though to cook and bake without them.
>> I know not all in India are vegetarian
You're right, but you're wrong as well, because well over 95% of India is vegetarian. When Indians come to America and open a restaurant they cook meat dishes only to stay in business. Like all countries there are atheists and non-conformists ... and that is most of the remaining 5% ... and we won't even speak of the tourists ...
When Indians run a restaurant they are smart in keeping the veggie and meat pans and utensils separate ... they do this ... because they are vegetarians. But most will admit that over the years the old man has become a meat eater and their kids have almost always been.
I will admit one thing though ... in order to keep vegetarian, one's choices are very limited in the outside world. Almost everyone in the temple who are really "in to it" ... bring their own food EVERYWHERE ... something I will not do.
>> I abhor the US meat factory, but I'm weak.
Which is exactly the reason the industry exists. ;-(
