So currently... I am obsessed with Bleach. The kind with the BFS, penchant for people losing the odd hand here and there and where the colour spread pages look like they're GAP ads, not the kind you use to clean your bathroom with. Oh god, this reminds me of the time one of the Tokyopop Rising Stars of Manga entries was just a trace of Blade of the Immortal (and plagiarising that piece of epic gold is like a crime against Nature). http://sub-divided.livejournal.com/64086.html

I don't really know, but that's a good question. All I know is that they were quietly removed from the competition. Will never know how that entry got by their reviewers.

When I read this it made me SO DAMN ANGRY because I think of wonderful people like you who put in so much time and effort with your comics, and then some lazy punk whose daddy is a rockstar gets away with crap like this and gets it published. It makes me sick.

Follow up!

Okay, did more reading that wasn't available back on the 25th...

First, Anime News Network says the first issue came out in August 09: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-02-25/nick-simmons-incarnate-halted-over-alleged-bleach-plagiarism

Depending on schedule and how many nerds he had helping him (which I now know is also true based on some other links in that LJ link you first posted), and how long the first issue was, it could have taken him several months to output that stuff, perhaps faster since he was just tracing everything.

Therefore, from that, I have to say... did no on check up on this kid? Did everyone take his word for it just because Gene Simmmons is his dad? If so, FUCKING FAIL. The proof he couldn't draw that shit has been publicly available on his Devart for months! MONTHS! Dear lord.
