Australia's all over and done with; I have been so hopeless keeping everyone up to date but the last three weeks have been a little strange, what with constantly moving and finally getting the chance to stop for a week in Canberra when I got to my uncle's house. I also got a bit of sad news from home- I lost my grandmother a month ago. She was ninety years old and had been ready to die for years by her own admission, so it was a relief that when she went it was quickly and dignified. I felt strange because I felt the last thing I should have been doing was travelling down through Australia when I should have been at home with my family. I'm now over that- I missed the funeral but I had the opportunity to say my goodbyes with a letter that my father read to her during the service.

Anyway, happier things to be discussed.

So, I'm in LA. I've been staying in Hollywood and doing all the sights there, and now I'm in Santa Monica for a few nights before I make my way out to Las Vegas on Sunday night. I plan to stay one night, maybe two, and then head up to San Francisco. After that: Seattle, Boston then New York. At the moment, I'm planning to leave on the 29th of June, but my budget is rapidly depleating, so I might go home a week earlier, if things look scary. And so, who fancies going for a few beers with me?!

And now, for the really awesome news, I got news of my JET placement through today and as of August, I will be moving to Iwamizawa in Hokkaido, which is a little bit scary because it's Hokkaido and all the pictures I've seen of the area have been covered in snow, but I suppose this means that I'll probably be getting a white Christmas this year! So, I hereby cordially invite you all to feel free to come and crash on a futon on my floor in Iwamizawa as of when you are ever in the Hokkaido area.
