Site Restoration: What am I working on now!
The restoration of The Chronicles website has been going well so far. Thank goodness for that.
It took some time to shuffle through, but I finally have all of the scattered pieces of my previously posted stories sorted out. I will be spending the majority of this month reviewing them for any minor edits or possible rewrites. Hopefully, I'll have some of them done and restored to the site in time for the March update. *crossing fingers*
Another item I will be spending time on this month is the relocation of my FanTales Discussion Group. There are going to be files that will be accessible only to group members, so my goal is to integrate the group into a members-only section of the site.
I've surfed around for some alternatives and I really like what Groups.io has to offer. But, for what I want to do, I'd have to upgrade to a paid account. I kind of like things free ... so ... I think I'll leave Groups.io as a last resort ... at least for now. LOL!
The company I host my site with offers a Discussion List platform that comes free with my hosting plan. I've used it before back in the day, so I'm at least somewhat familiar with it. The only real issue I have with the platform is its HTML Templates. The thing still uses the HTML 4.01 version for its templates. Good grief! I haven't coded in that version in years. *shakes head in disbelief* I can barely remember what I did an hour ago. Do they really expect me to remember HTML 4.01? *head-desk*
Anyway, first, I'm going to attempt to integrate my host's platform into the site as much as I can. Might need a few members to help with testing it out once I finish with its configurations. I'll let you know when that time comes.
Hopefully, it works out, so I can avoid that paid account. Remember, I like things Free!
