2006 and all that...

Well we're safely into 2006 so I thought I should update on the last couple of weeks...

Christmas was great fun, I got lost of nice presents, and socks, haha. It was good to have Brittany and her sister Abby over on Christmas day with my family, and everyone got on well; and my mum made a very tasty Christmas dinner and we watched tv and played board games, including Trivial Pursuit on dvd. On Boxing day everyone was left to do their own thing; my mum, brother, and uncle went to watch the Chelsea v Fulham game, my cousins had to visit their other relatives, and Brittany and Abby just hung out and went shopping. After a little persuasion from my mate Andrew, he convinced me that it would be great fun to drive us both to Swindon to watch Swindon v Colchester (Swindon won 1-0 after a goal in the 90th minute, which we weren't happy about, as Andrew is a Colchester fan). After the disappointment of the football result, we were back in time to meet up with the girls and some of our other friends in the evening for a few drinks in a pub in Kingston, so the day turned out all right in the end.

I had to work for 3 days between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve, and that was a bit crap, but at least I got to finish early. Unfortunately Brittany had to work during the day on New Year's Eve, but Abby and I met up with Andrew to watch Brentford v Colchester in the afternoon, which wasn't too bad a Brentford is quite close to where I live. Anyway, Colchester played brilliantly and won 2-0, though they could've scored 5 or 6, it was a great game. Abby left with Andrew to go back to Eddie & Andrew's flat to get ready for the party later on, and I went home for a bit before I had to pick Brittany up from work. We got to Eddie & Andrew's flat about 9pm, after picking up Aaron on the way. We'd decided to have a fancy dress party for New Year's Eve and everyone was given a random letter of the alphabet a few weeks before and had to come as something dressed as that letter: Brittany got 'A' so she dressed as an asian (in Japanese dress), Aaron got 'D' but he didn't dress up as he was feeling ill so Andrew said he could come as 'diseased' (nice eh?), Abby got 'H' so she dressed as a hippy, Eddie got 'I' so he came as Eddie Izzard, Andrew got 'S' so he dressed as a stegosaurus, and I got 'T' so I came as a tramp... and the others thought I was a little too convincing, haha the cheeky buggers. A great night of drinking and festive fun was had by all, even if there were only a few of us it was better than going to a massive party with a load of randomers. Abby left England to fly home the next day and I had to take her to Heathrow early to catch her flight at 11am, which meant getting up at 7, oof. Though it was the only occasion when Brittany and I have been to an airport and not had to say goodbye to each other, woo!

Andrew took Brittany and I for dinner last week to say thank you for letting him spend lots of time with Abby while she was here; they'd got on really well and had a 'thing' going, aww bless... though I don't know if it will last, we shall see. On Saturday evening a group of us went over to my friend Meg's house for her birhday; there were about 10 of us and Meg and her boyfriend John had cooked a full three course meal, which was very tasty indeed. We stayed there 'til nearly 2am just chatting and drinking and a good time was had by all. After work last night I got the train to Catford (via central London) to meet up with Tristan, who was one of my old mates from uni, to play five-a-side football. Now the closest I've got to playing 'proper' football in the past 4 months are my epic games of FIFA '06 and Pro Evo 5 against Andrew and Tom; but I think I played fairly well last night as I set up 2 of our goals and stopped the opposition scoring on several ocassions as we cruised to a 12-3 victory, back of the net!
