3 years

So a short post after three years of being away. I went back and read through my journal tonight, which gave me a nice look back at how far I've come. I left Orlando a year ago and moved to Washington DC. Picking up where I left off, this is a short timeline of events in my life:

-After my band, Julington, played Hard Rock Live, we played a final show and never wrote another song together or played live again. We are all still very good friends and keep in close touch, but we each became more involved with school and the band fell by the wayside. We lived together for about a year and a half after the hard rock show and had some great times jamming privately in our house.

- I graduated from UCF in 2005 and wen to work for a U.S. Senator's office in Orlando for about a year and a half. It was an advocacy office (helping people with problems such as healthcare, homelessness, disability payments, etc). It was a great experience and opened my eyes to how much government actually affects the daily life of citizens.

- I moved to Washington, DC last year in June. I spent seven months working a contract position at a "grassroots" lobbying firm which was one of the most terrible jobs I have ever held. Regardless, I met a wonderful group of smart people who now constitute my base of friends here in the capitol.

- In March of this year I accepted a position in a very large law firm as part of a Government Affairs/Lobbying team. The firm is a terrificly positive place to work and I am very happy in doing what I do.

- I live on my own just outside of the city. The past year has consisted of so many new experiences and people that to write about them all would take a lifetime. Suffice to say, I am happy where my life has led and continue to learn and experience new things each day.

I am thinking about beginning to update this journal regularly again, as reading past entries has provided me with memories, good and bad, that I had long since forgotten. I am fairly certain no one reads this anymore, but on the off chance someone I've had contact in the past sees this, please leave a comment with your e-mail address if you're interested in getting back in touch.

Until another three years,

Matt
