An update with the things I know.
Michael, Nick, Cherie, Annie, My sister and her husband, and Miriam, Maya, and their mom are all safe.
Frenchmen Street is slightly flooded, but so far nothing major that I can gather. I got pictures from Gentilly Terrace and it looks like the homes have been spared as of noon today. The water is 3 1/2 feet on the sidewalks but the terraces have held so far. Nick is trying to get into the city as a volunteer EMT for rescue efforts. My uncle has lost everything as his home is in Violet. I'm sure Billy lost his new house in Venetian Isles. I feel very fortunate that nearly everyone I know got out of the city. Rich is still there I'm sure with the 27th Firehouse. Billy is with the 2nd District NOPD. Darrell is with the Coast Guard and is quite busy. It's times like this that I miss George Tessier (8th District). He would have me laughing at some bullshit going on. I can't believe it's been a year since he died. I hope the living are doing well. I feel like Superman left Metropolis and not being there to help is eating at me. I have Leonard and a turn of clothes, a laptop, gps, camera, and cellphone. I was just going for a drive and when I got 150 miles out I wanted to turn around. Too late. Hot food is good. A/C, internet, clean water, and a bed and I would give it up in a second if I thought I could get back home. I miss everyone very much and a few even more. (insert love fest here)
I will post the pictures of Gentilly/Franklin Ave. soon.
I don't pray, so namaste mon cheri.
