Questions for Longmire writer of next episode and BIG SPOILERS FOR SEASON

Jun 05, 2012 18:04

Does anyone have questions for the writer of this Sunday's episode? I'll be chatting with her this weekend! Please leave them in the comments if you do. Your questions don't have to just be about this week's episode of course. Sarah is a staff writer for the show, so is involved with all aspects of it.

Also, if anyone wants to be COMPLETELY SPOILED ( Read more... )

I don't know how to say it without it being kind of offensive/confrontational, but I wonder about the view of women the show will take. The pilot ep was about saving a teen from prostitution and the next one seems to be about a young woman who is working as a stripper. We discussed this a little bit in relation to the books so I wonder. I'm not sure if that can be asked in a nice way since I'm sure professionally you don't want to alienate a staff writer. ;-)

I'm afraid to click the link. I'm trying to be not tooooo spoiled. That's an odd description for Sean.

Oh good question. I'll totally ask her about the female exploitation issues! I'll be diplomatic certainly, but I think she'll get it as a female writer, you know?

Heh, the way that description was written really kind of cracked me up. I wouldn't click the link maybe--it's got a real lot of info. Although the bit about meeting Branch's Uncle and Dad and Vic's husband is really encouraging because that means they're clearly invested in opening up the secondary characters' lives and continuing to have a lot of character stuff and not just be a straight procedural, I think!

Yes, I agree good question!

I was wondering about how the racial issues between the Native American characters and the non- Native American character will develope too.

Ooh yes, I'll definitely ask about that. Sarah's second episode that she wrote (#9) deals with that topic specifically actually!

That's a good point. I'd love to see the other characters explored more. I guess the books are all from Walt's POV but the show isn't limited by that. Even in the book (I'm blanking on titles) that was in Philly there was so little actual interaction between Vic and her family. It was all about Walt's perceptions. You learned some about Vic just by Walt meeting her family but on tv that same story would be totally different because you just know one Katee face and you'd *feel* all the things that are going on between her and her mom. I *really* hope Lena visits at some point in the show. It could be in like the 3rd or 4th season it just HAS to happen.

I'd like if Branch's dad is a jerk who is pushing him to do some of the less likable things he's done. I'm having a hard time with Branch so giving him some sympathetic back story would help me.

Yeah I really hope we'll meet Lena! Who would you cast as Vic's mom?

And that sounds like exactly who Branch's dad is in the description given. He's pushing him to really undermine walt.

That's nice on Branch. I know some people are shipping Vic/Branch and so far I just can't. But I know a mean daddy can turn a psychotic jackass into a lovable woobie.

I am SO awful on casting. No idea. Do you have thoughts?

Aw psychotic jackass? He doesn't seem nearly that bad to me.

Idk for her mom. It'd be kind of funny if they cast someone like Lorraine bracco and was just like "I don't know who Vic takes after in looks..." ;)
