So Bobby hadn't exactly been, uh. The best at calling people and letting them know that he was fine, Sookie was fine, his dad was... while not fine, expected to recover, at least.
He had any number of excuses, of course. His dad needed constant care. The phones weren't even working half the time. He was helping Sookie get adjusted to living in his world.
...Okay, that last one was pretty weak as far as excuses went.
Still, things had been busy enough that aside from the lack of portals and phone calls, he hadn't exactly noticed anything was wrong. No, not even the fact that people like Tony Stark or Reed Richards were missing. That... wasn't new. When people stopped remembering them he thought that was kind of odd, but Onslaught had been pretty powerful. Maybe he hadn't just killed them, but wiped them out of existence or something.
It was only when places started vanishing as well that Bobby figured out that this wasn't just more fallout from the battle with Onslaught.
He'd even given up on his promise to himself to stay away from the X-Men, trying to get ahold of Hank. Hank would know what to do about this. But apparently even he didn't exist anymore.
The last few weeks had seen the world get smaller and smaller, until by yesterday there'd been nothing but the street Bobby had grown up on, along with a handful of houses. Even his parents were gone, now.
This morning he'd woken up and the world had consisted of himself, Sookie, and a house in Floral Park.
Now... now it looked like there might not even be that anymore. He'd finally managed to get
a call through, and so now it was just a matter of waiting. He squeezed Sookie's hand in his own, looked over at her, and smiled. "I love you," he said.
"I love you too," Sookie said softly, smiling a little even as she worried her lower lip a bit. "I...guess this is it, huh?" She'd taken a moment to
make a call, but otherwise, she'd reached a sort of...peace. Half of her expected Claudine to show up and whisk them to her home, but she'd given up on that, mostly.
"The end of the word as we know it," Bobby agreed. "Wouldn't say I feel fine, but... I'm with you. That's something."
"I feel...acceptable," Sookie said quietly, blinking back some tears all the same. "There's nothing to be done. And if there's one person I wanted to see out the end with, it's you."
