Went up to Newcastle on Friday, to take advantage of the long bank holiday weekend. Arrived late Friday evening at Krissy's mum's house, food fantastic as always, dropped bags and things upstairs then sat about for a natter.
Saturday we went for a bit of a potter about the town, went to the
Hancock Museum, which was very interesting - amazing to think that it all started out as one bloke's personal collection. And I thought we had a lot of stuff lying around the house...
Went to
Travelling Man and
Forbidden Planet, both on Grainger Street and both equally deadly - at least as far as my bank balance is concerned. Picked up some more Lenore and completed my collection of League of Extraordinary Gentleman... also got wedding presents for some friends of ours who are also geeks.
Since we were in town, we thought we'd pop over the new Millenium Bridge and go and see what was on at the Baltic. What a bloody waste of time that was. Walls of photos of people's noses and the dullest video installation in the world were among the high points.
Sunday was a bit more relaxed, we went up to Segedunum - though didn't pay to go in as you could get just as good a look from the outside (bloody English Heritage). After this we hopped on the Metro and went to Tynemouth for the day - had an amble around the priory and castle, took some (ha - lots!) of photos, then went to the beach for a bit. I even paddled in the sea. Photographic evidence is on its way, O unbelievers.
Let's see now. The weather turned a bit drizzly after this and we still had time to kill so we went to the pub. Our usual watering hole, the Cumerland Arms, was chocka as the football was on, so we popped into the suspiciously deserted Percy Arms, which was surprisingly decent. Then home, roast beef, wine, half a bottle of port and sleep.
Monday came back home after popping down the road to go and see
lilith_k's dad for a cup of tea, a tour of his new shed and a natter.
Tired now, so much typing my fingers are wearing out. Oh wait, then there was Star Wars roleplaying at
hobbesgoblin's house and the killer chilli chicken of doom - lordy that thing was spicy.
Photos to come later, once I get home, sort through them and stick them on 'tinterweb.
