I haven't been at my desk much lately.
Mostly because my parents drove down (1,300 miles!) to visit me for a few days. My mom suffers pretty badly from "empty nest syndrome", and really misses me. It was good to spend some time with them again.
My dad helped me put a replacement alternator into my car. With his hands (mine are large enough to have problems reaching into the tighter spaces) and tools, it was actually pretty easy. $160 was a lot more palatable than the $277 the mechanic quoted me. Honestly, the biggest pain in the ass was getting the serpentine belt on after it was installed. That really takes two people.
My father also found a junkyard with a replacement wiper arm, so my driver's side wiper arm is no longer flopping around like it was for a while now.
Eating out with them a few times with my folks was probably the best I've eaten in a good two months, possibly a lot longer. I actually feel good now. I wonder how long that'll last once I'm back to eating little but rice?
