I closed with Bill again tonight. Since Jen left, I really prefer being stuck there with him on Sundays. At least he and I can just talk. It's kind of fun to pick his brain and make small talk, he's a pretty interesting dude.
One of our last customers of the evening tonight was a man who came in wearing a t-shirt that said "My anger management classes are pissing me off". I cracked right up, and paid the guy a compliment about it. I want one of those now.
One of our regulars (yes, a liquor store has regulars) came in for her usual tiny bottles of the 99 Schnapps again tonight, with a large somewhat homely man in tow. After she left, I commented to Bill: "Is it bad that I hope he's a paying customer rather than a boyfriend, because I hope her standards for the latter are a bit higher than that?".
There's
new "gold" dollar coins out now. I traded in a single dollar bill for one of them from the till at work so I could add it to my coin collection. I think it'll fail just as the
Sacagawea and
Susan B. Anthony dollar coins did, and for the same reasons, so I'm going to be glad to have one in my coin collection.
I've come to realize why there are no 24hr grocery stores in the area. It's WalMart. The evil empire has struck a major blow against grocers here in the south. All the Wal-Marts (that I've seen so far) are 24hr, oddly enough... even if they don't have full grocery in them. So, if I do need something in the middle of the night, I can always go there. CVS is no longer my only option. I'm not sure which is the worse of the two... overpaying at CVS, or supporting the evil Wallyworld empire.
I think I finally have an explanation about my fucked-up sleeping patterns. And it does have to do with coffee. The last few days, I made a weak pot of coffee with the last from the can, and then was out, so it's been a couple of days since I've made coffee like I was for a while. And all of those days, I've had zero troubles with insomnia. It's not purely the caffeine, however, since the other day I popped a caffeine pill an hour or so after I arrived at work, and still managed to fall asleep that night. I think it's actually that the coffee releases it slowly into my bloodstream throughout the day, so that there's still some in my bloodstream when it comes time to go to sleep. That would explain the insomnia, and also why the pill didn't effect me the same way. For whatever reason, I guess those metabolize faster.
