Today, the boss tasked me with cleaning some shelves with some spray cleaner (he does like his windex) and a razor blade to remove both dirt and tape. After a few shelves, I had a hard time gripping the bare blade, so asked him if it would be all right to run over to the nearby walmart and buy a cheap scraper (all they really are is a better handle to more easily hold the blade). He assented, and I ran on over. I enjoyed being outside on the clock, for sure.
It took me a while to find the damned things (I hate walmart's layout) but eventually I did. They had a couple of them, one the cheap plastic one I told Bill I'd buy, the other a nice-looking metal one that shockingly enough was made in the USA. The price difference between the two wasn't all that much, either. Something like 60¢ more for the nice metal one. So, I bought the cheaper one for store use, and the nice one for myself (since I don't have one in my toolbox). It made a big difference in actual use, that's for damned sure.
Still, the biggest thing was that something at a walmart was made somewhere other than China. Amazing!
