Don't You Hate That?

Ever go to bed, and then while you're lying there trying to relax, you get an idea so good you have to get up and try it out?

Doesn't that suck? Especially if it happens two or three times in a row.

annoyances, sleep, ideas

Once and a while I have done that, but most of the times I just write down things in the dark. I then have to remember where on the paper I wrote what, so I don't over write something else. But many times in the morning it takes me a day or two to decipher what I wrote, since I only put notes down and not the whole sentence.

So what did you get up to do?

DALE.

My handwriting is completely illegible, and I can't write in the dark. I've thought about keeping the laptop nearby, but even with the backlight on as low as possible, it's still extremely jarring to the eyes.

I realized something I'd forget about my DV camcorder some time ago... it can stream video over it's firewire connection. Bingo, instant high-quality (it set me back $1,000 when I bought it, so the optics are top-notch) webcam! Sure beats the hell out of the piddly little one I was thinking about buying, and it's no additional cost to me. More than a bit clumsy, but it makes up for that by costing me $0, since I'm utilizing an existing asset.

Most of my good ideas require that I be in bed. Your weird.

I'm done the exact same thing more than a few times (usually soon after I've moved into a new place). And since I've got a touch of OCD, I have to see a project through in it's entirety once I start it. None of that "finish it tomorrow" crap for me.

I could not possibly count the times that has happened. It would take far too long. It does suck a bit, but it's always good to be productive. And since I live with very little sleep anyways, it doesn't really hurt :P

Productivity vs. sleep? Sleep usually wins out for me. Then again, I doubt you become anywhere near as irritable as I do when I don't get enough sleep.

I held a knife to someone's throat after 4 days of less than 3 hours per day of rest.

Productivity!

And yeah, that's not me. I either get groggy (naturally) or just very goofy. Nothing really hurt by that.

Your higher brain functions may regret making that a priority in a few years. Or maybe not.

I have a naturally powerful temper. I keep it in check and under control 98% of the time. But my self-control is the first thing to break down when I'm suffering from lack of sleep.
