where are you, digital camera?
we have these trash cans around san francisco. big green trash cans with metal lids attached that have spaces on all four sides to put the trash in. these trash cans are cemented to the sidewalks and the lids are welded to the can so that bums can't get into them very well.
anyhow, i was walking home for lunch yesterday - i only live about 7 blocks away from work - and i saw this bum pull a metal pipe (not the crack kind, more like the plumbing kind) out of his shopping cart/home and start banging on the top of a trash can with it. as i got closer i saw that he had a dead crab on the lid of the trash can. this crab was completely uncooked and still blueish in color. he also had a zip lock bag filled with random claws and legs next to the full crab.
as i walked away, that bum had successfully broken into the crab and was pulling out bits to munch on.
later, joan and i were out shopping and we passed by 2 attractive guys (which i never seem to notice - i walk around with blinders on). After seeing them, joan said "so what if people get shot all the time? so what it people bang crabs on trash cans? i love this neighborhood!"
