Between this and last night's episode, I wonder if the Doctor's emotional journey this half-year is going to be around becoming a worshipper rather than that which is worshipped.

It's a great point - after last nights ep it's been something I was thinking about myself, as it bery much links in with the idea of mine that you quoted. It's like he walks before her nad clears the way for her to be amazing, for her to produce the real magic.

That's also something I love about Moffat's Who, that it extends the use of myth beyond Christian myth - the religions you pointed out, plus there are times when Greek myth has been used (Crash of the Byzantium as the Hecate/Persephone/Hades journey in the Underworld) and Norse myth referenced (AGMGTW with the eyepatched viking alien, and the frequent presentations of the Doctor with one eye closed in series 6 and onwards, like Odin, plus Moffat's references to Asgard in series 4). I love the points you draw out about Jewish and Islamic myth - they are less my area of familiarity, so it's good to see the ideas that Moff is invoking from them.

Friending is fab! I'll add you too.
