First of all, hurrah that the show is back and what a great ep! Secondly - well, nothing secondly, except here is meta! Featuring nursery rhymes and Celtic myth, the Question and the Quest, the mirrors and the web, forests and leaves. Oh, and Chairs.
(
...and remember )
I loved, by the way, that you used the phrase "chair agenda," that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, moments before I posted my own Chair observations.
I'm also glad you picked up on Clara's necklace, something I neglected. It's so shiny, so silvery! And yeah, reminiscent of Egyptian symbolism. Oooh, how about the fact she ends up helping to right an airplane?
Finally, a bit on Names. Names are always important! And the kids, they've got some easy ones to suss out. Angie is the one who gives Clara the password to get on the internet -- and Angie is short for Angela, a feminine Angel. The Net ends up holding the Cloud, a nightmare afterlife.
Artie, on the other hand, has a book written by Amy Pond, and holds the keys to the house, given to forgetful dad. And I'm suddenly reminded of Vincent and the Doctor. In that story, Vincent fights the Monster at the Church with a Chair (a "religious" symbol as we've discussed) and with an Easel (a symbol of "art.") The chair won't defeat the monster -- it's the tool of art that does the trick.

Well, I had to use the Chair Agenda - glad it made you warm and fuzzy!
Oooh, of course, she ends up on an aeroplane, i wonder if we'll se any other wings or flight symbolism. I love finding the new symbols - seems like leaves are going to be important this time around too. That leaf is the thread that binds him back to the moment her met her as a child, the moment when really her life started to change - makes me wonder if with timey wimey stuff him meeting her as a child somehow drew someone's attention to her and they took blueprints of her to lead him into a trap.
Angels - winged beings too - and the "cloud" common usage for stuff stored in the wi-fi but again linking into flight and the sky. I'm really excited to see what Moff has in store tonight.
