Yay! It took me so long to get this completed, it was in the works for so long, just bubbling away under the surface while i waited for Rory to tell me his side of the story properly. Funny how fic happens like that sometimes isn't it? It always reminds me of cooking when it happens that way - cooking on a slow simmer and adding different ingredients until eventually it coalesces into a whole dish - but only when it's good and ready!

First, i'm glad that you liked the story, and that you feel it fits well in the Spiral of Stars 'verses. While i was writing for myself, it's also really important to me too that you enjoy these pieces and that you feel they fit in the verse, since i'm riffing a lot on your ideas.

I totally agree with you - Rory's main motivator is love. I think that he sees and understands his own motives and emotions very much better than Amy and 11 do their own (not surprising as Amy and 11 mirror each other.) For me he feels so clear and strong, and he would wait another 2000 year over again if it meant saving Amy. His loyalty lies with her - though i think he does have some loyalty for the Doctor i think his growing disillusionment in series 6 is eroded that away somewhat.

Until you said it, i didn't really see it (though it is there in the fic) - that idea of duality. Also a ket theme of Moff's Who, so im' subconsciously picking up on that as well. The two Amys - the girl he loves and the part of her who waits, Rory the warrior and healer, life in the stars and life on the earth, the blue doors of the Tardis and the blue doors of home.

There is that upheaval, so much has happened to play into where Rory is when this fic is set, i really think the Rory the Roman side of him is crucial to understanding who he is now - i'm really glad you thought i managed to negotiate my way through those factors and bring them into sync with the story i'm trying to tell while still keeping my direction.

Ah yes, Rory and the Trdis. :) Again, as with the Roman soldier side of him, i see his link with the Tardis as something important (at least it is in my head!canon). There's something there...her calling him pretty, him holding her as she told him "The only water in the forest is the river." In my head!canon, Rory's affection for the Tardis is uncomplicated by the issues he has with the Doctor. He has a genuine affection and special link with the ship, and She is what he remembers the most fondly.

I am also so very happy you feel i captured Rory's journey as a character. At first, the fic was just about where he is now, but i realised that his journey to where he is was so important that i wanted to touch on the things that had happened and how they had changed him. It felt like a lot to cover and i was trying to capture it in a few short lines, and i'm very happy that it worked. I totally agree- Rory is an understated amazing. He does fascinate me.

I agree, in a lot of ways Amy has never really left that box. And i wanted it to be like him waiting for her to come alive again. Though, now, in the new series, she is at last waking up again i think. And just like with the Pandorica, the agency is with her character to wake herself up and step away from life with the Doctor.

Of course, i would be honoured if you would put my story in your masterlist. I'm so glad you feel i capture the spirit of your verses. They are still inspiring me- i would next like to write a fic about River, about how she waits for the Doctor, and linking that into Amy's waiting. I'd like to also link it into the idea of fairytales. I think it will end up being mostly from River's POV, but with references to her parents and paralleling her life and the impact the Doctor had in it to theirs. It may be that you don't feel it fits as it is mostly River-centric, rather than Amy-centric, but that would be okay too if you didn't think it fitted well enough to be listed, the main thing is that i am inspired by the theme of the Ponds and how they each wait in their own different ways.

Thank you very much for such a lovely comment and i'm so glad you enjoyed this

*hugs*

The themes you mention too of duality, seem to be being picked up on in the forthcoming DW episode regarding Eleven staying with the Ponds, when she talks about the two lives they lead and how the Doctor never seems to be part of the Ponds' life

I'm glad I seemed to pick up on that, even if my view on how Rory felt is now slightly AU. However... In my Power of Three meta, I talked about the journey Rory has taken since Pond Life, so maybe my take on how he felt isn't AU for the 2 years between the Gpd Complex and Pond Life....it's taken him a while but the first 4 eps of the series have seen him take a journey to trusting the Doctor (it's all played out symbolically, as you'll see when you read my meta.)

. I think a River-centric fic woven through her parents stories and the waiting the Doctor creates, would fit really well into the Verses actually. It makes me happy to see the Verses growing and developing and just living really. It started off with one story and now it's grown :) I hope it keeps growing.
I'm glad you like my River idea, and I'm really glad too that the 'verses are continuing growing. It has been so much fun bouncing off each other's ideas and letting them insipre in a very organic and natural way :)

Oooh, Mumford and Sons inspired fic! I know that song and the lyrics are perfect! Looking forward to reading it :)
