002: Audio/Action | Bored

[After a rough bit of explination of where she was by her new...'husband', raiding through the jewelry, kicking the drown children outside until sunset and ripping all the heavy curtains off the windows (much to the dismay of Conrad), letting the sun sink into the rooms.

Nabooru is absolutely positively bored. She waited near the phone for an ( Read more... )

'Others like you'?...You mean others who are stuck here?

Yes. Those that know this is nothing but a lie and that the rest of the people here are as soul less as a piece of wood.

Ah, there's loads of us that were brought here! Most of us are from different worlds or different times.

Oh, and to answer the job question, you're given one. You won't know what type of job you've got until you get a phone call saying you've not been at that job for a few days. But it depends on whether you've actually been given a job or not.

Interesting. So this place is basically a prison of time and space...

I suppose I'll just have to wait. I'm going to go insane if I have to stay in the house for more than a few days....

You don't need to worry about missing the call about the job, they'll probably keep phoning back if you missed it, so you don't have to stay in the house.

Oh well wonderful...so what is there to do around this town? Seems pretty boring to me.

It is. Right now the most exciting thing is going out to meet the others here and from what I know people will throw parties every so often.

But it isn't always like this though. Have you been told about what happens here once a month?

Once a month? Well my "Husband" explained to be the Boxtop contest...in which he lost one of his arms. Is that what you are speaking of?

Yep, although what happens apparently differs each month. From what I've been told about what happened last month, the whole town changed and people ended up being killed...

Oh my...well that sounds a little strange. This place is very confusing. What about the soul-less ones? What do you know about them?

You mean the drones? Not much, other than that they're what could be called the 'natives' of this place...But there are a few of them that were like us at one point though; it's possible to become a drone either permanently or just for a period of time...

That's terrible...they are all just so...terryfing. Where I come from I am the Sage of Spirit, and they have nothing. Not an ounce of spirit I can sense from them...though my powers seem to be gone, I can still tell the different between something with or without a soul...and they have nothing. Their eyes are just...dead.

Yeah, at one point all the others in my house were drones and I ended up spending as much time as I could away from the house, it was just...so unnerving. But, it's usually thought that when one is permanently droned that they were actually sent back home.

Oh, and about your powers being gone, it happens to everyone brought here; this place takes your stuff, powers and even things like scars. Usually, you're able to get one of your possessions back after one of the once a month situations. Or you can get them back from the post office, but doing so means you have to pay a 'fee'...

I assume fee's are usually limbs, hence the reason Conrad doesn't have his arm...Well...I did kick these drones out of the house...at least until Sunset...it is terrible that they are children. It is slightly unnerving.

So what about you...how long have you been here?

The fee can also be things such as organs or even memories...

...Conrad? You mean Conrad Achenleck? [Pronunciation of his surname is a bit off.]

Ummm...just over a month now, I think...Ah, my name's April, by the way!

Yes, I'm Nabooru...Achenleck...[she completely butchers it]. So you haven't been here too long, I would assume that isn't very long.

So has anyone ever actually manage to...escape?
