so ... last night was completely random. Some of ya'all know that I played (at, a small amount of, and not all that good of ) bass guitar in college ... specifically my days at KSU-S. As some of you also know i played at learning 6 string for a while. Well, i had let my guitar playing slide to the sideline when things got crazy again, and I'd been having trouble getting my hands and fingers wrapped around the extra 2 strings of the lead guitar, so for my birthday i found myself a bass guitar, and traded the 6 string in on that. I'd been trying to teach myself, but i knew that all of the bad habits that I had learned playing with the guys in the dorms were catching up with me, so I emailed the owner of a shop that only sells basses and double (upright) basses about lessons. this email thread started on tuesday afternoon. Wednesday he emailed me back saying that if I wanted we could start lessons then. I was excited, so i jumped on the offer. The place that this gentleman owns is right next door to the Beaumont Club. As i drive up I notice a tour bus and trailer that i recognize outside the beaumont. After my lesson, we investigate this suspicious activity. Low and behold, Jason Boland was playing a pretty much unannounced show at the beaumont last night. It was a hellva show considering that there was only about 30 people there. I think that we all had fun at this event, it definatly made for a good night, but a long ass day today.
In other thoughts, C & K, I do wish you both a happy birthday. I will try and call tonight and sing to you both.
What do ya'all think about the possiblity of finding a part time job, just something silly like best buy or some other associated retail, mostly braindead job for the summer. I figure that it would help to pay off some bills and maybe get ahead on some others. I will keep my comments screened but i'm looking for feedback on taht one. I normally do pretty well over the summers, my roadtrips are cut way down, and I seem to work and hang out at home and go the gym, but input is always valued.
Anywho, that's catching up on my week and some other catchup in the rest of my world.
life,
concerts,
bass,
