I can't help it. I keep comparing Casper to Bandit.

Put my brand new shipping boots on Casper. I felt guilty about it; they're Bandit's boots and it's not fair that Casper got to wear them first. I was tempted to go get some of the crappy ones from the tack room just because I didn't want a horse that wasn't Bandit to wear them.

She looked good in all his blue stuff, though. Even if the shipping boots were 4 inches too big and went all the way up her knees.

I realize I've been lucky. Bandit adores trailering. He vaults up the ramp, touching it as few times as is possible. The only time he walked up the ramp calmly was after Granby, when he was all cut up and sore. Casper, on the other hand... doesn't like trailering that much. She stopped halfway up the ramp loading at 6 and I had to drag her up the rest of the way. At the Coliseum, she tried to back out of the trailer. I didn't let her, though.

She is just so different. I have to really choke up on my reins to stop her at all. And I have to push her sometimes. It's weird. I can ride Bandit on a loose rein sometimes, and at the very least he always has his head, even if I have to check and release constantly. And I have pushed him a grand total of twice in the almost two years I've been riding him. He loves to go faster and if I make any noise or signal him in any way, he accelerates.

And she runs funny. She takes short steps, well under her body, and just moves her legs faster to go faster. She kind of hops around sometimes. Bandit takes longer strides, even at a casual lope, and moves his legs faster and stretches them out farther when he needs to speed up. He knows how to stretch out and use his whole body to get going. Casper just doesn't do that. It's weird, to me.

The best part about Casper, I think, is that she can run first four and does all her lead changes when asked or when she feels they are necessary. But other than that...

I want my boy back.

I walked into sick bay and called to him and his head was over the fence in about two seconds flat. He then gave me a good sniff down, found the cookie I had for him, and nibbled me all over because there was only one cookie.

I miss riding Bandit.
